And now we welcome the new year. Full of things that have never been.

Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.
- Oprah Winfrey

Welcome to each of the new highway officials, especially those at the town superintendent level, who are just starting in their new role this month. Each of us is given the opportunity to try something different with each new year, to improve ourselves, and to make things right.

As we start 2022, look for opportunities to try something new, improve what we already do, and to learn from others. Communicate with your fellow officials and learn from their mistakes. In our Winter 2022 issue of Nuggets & Nibbles we have a feature on What a New Highway of Public Works Superintendent Needs to Know on Day One. Check it out and together let's make 2022 a great year.

This Winter, Public Workers are Doing More with Less
David Orr, P.E., PhD
Director, New York State LTAP Center – Cornell Local Roads Program

This winter, local highway and public works departments will be working harder than ever to keep the roads and streets safe for the traveling public across New York State.
