Yearbook Update:

Elementary Yearbook will be moving forward this year, using photos from the Spring Photographer. If parents would like to submit any class photos, please email them to elementaryyearbook@nyos.org. Also, if your student is on the No Media Release list, then their photo will not be included in the elementary yearbook. To change this, please login to Skyward and request a change using the online form for "Student Media Release Change Request."

We are hoping to have yearbooks delivered to classrooms before the end of the school year. Keep on the lookout for the order details that will be coming out soon. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help with the yearbook this year. If you would like to help, please email elementaryyearbook@nyos.org.

Exciting BSU Trip Update

The members and leaders of the BSU (Black Student Union) have diligently pursued their union goals and mission, including promoting education and increasing exposure to higher learning institutions and scholarships. Through their networking efforts and connections, they secured seven spots for their members (comprising five BSU officers, one member, and one prospective member) with two Divine 9 organizations (Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity). These organizations offered an out-of-state college tour experience throughout the second week of our spring break. The tour included visits to eight colleges directly, along with a mini-tour of the Atlanta University Center, focusing particularly on notable Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in Georgia and South Carolina.

Over a span of five days, they visited the following colleges:

  • Albany State University
  • Spelman College
  • Morehouse College
  • Clark Atlanta University
  • Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech)
  • Morris Brown College
  • The University of Georgia
  • South Carolina State University
  • Claflin University

Participating in such experiences not only broadens our students' understanding of the educational landscape but also resonates deeply with NYOS Core Values, reinforcing our commitment to academic excellence, dedication to service, integrity, holistic development, perseverance, respect, and accountability. These opportunities empower students to embody these values in their actions and interactions within and beyond the educational sphere.
