NY-Alert System Test Scheduled

ESF University Police will conduct a test of the NY-Alert System to all ESF students, faculty, and staff who are registered to receive notifications sent via email, text message, and voice call.

NY-Alert will send a notice to all devices that are registered on the system. Before the test, please review and/or modify your NY-Alert contact information.

Log in to MyESF and click on “Self-Service Student Information,” then “NY Alert and Orange Alert Contact Information.”

 

Employees

Sign in here. Select “Manage Everbridge (NY-ALERT) and Orange Alert Contact Information, under each section (email, phone), click the “Add New” button to input your information, and select “Save” upon completion.

Nominations are being accepted for ESF’s Student Organization and Leadership Achievement Recognition Ceremony (SOLAR) Awards. These annual awards recognize student leaders and organizations in several categories.


The nomination deadline is midnight Monday, March 27.

Hear from Alford Clifford about Diné Ethnobotany, Land, and Culture

Visiting scholar Arnold Clifford (Diné) will present a lecture titled "Diné Ethnobotany, Land, and Culture." Join the Center for Native Peoples and the Environment to hear from Clifford —  Indigenous scholar, field botanist, ethnobotanist, and geologist — who has dedicated his career to weaving Diné traditional knowledge and science with Western scientific methods.

Harvest in Heiberg Forest Proposed

The Forest Properties Department is proposing to harvest 2 acres of decadent aspen forest along the Pond 1 Road at Heiberg Memorial Forest in Truxton. The purpose of this cutting is to stimulate regeneration of aspen by encouraging root sprouting through increased sunlight to the forest floor.


The regenerating aspen will be an important food source for ruffed grouse and other local wildlife. This project is being carried out in cooperation with the Central New York Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society and Dr. Stephen Teale. For questions or concerns contact Bob MacGregor, Forest Properties director.
