Meet the NWD Data Ambassadors!

K. Alison Hammond, Senior Human Services Specialist

Prince William Area Agency on Aging

What are you most excited about with being a NWD Data Ambassador?

Working with staff from agencies around the state that use the NWD tool.

How is data used in your role with your current organization?

Data is collected from a possible client or caregiver to determine what options may be available to them regarding the needs they articulate. Data is then shared, with consent, to other departments within our agency or local NWD partners to serve the client and/or their caregiver as appropriate. All data about any client or caregiver is documented in the NWD tool, a good record of phone conversations, or other forms of communication about the abilities and needs of the client with services provided and/or referrals made allows for the client and/or their caregiver to continue on with a conversation rather than having to repeat their concerns and needs as time goes on.

What was your first job?

In my whole life? Scooping ice cream

What data did you use in your first job and why did it matter?

I used a cash register, does that count? This job was many years ago and we still had to do math in our heads! We used a paper and pencil to document sales and cash taken in. Clearly important to understand sales made and how much money there was at the end of the night!
