NVCT celebrates our 100th conservation easement
|
Ninety acres of open space has been protected in Fairfax County, next to the Manassas National Battlefield and Bull Run. The property, mostly forest and pasture land, is owned by
 Stonebridge Investments, and is NVCT's 100th conservation easement. John Hickox, managing member of Stonebridge Investments, says, "I am immensely proud of what we are doing. Nobody ever truly "owns" the land--we are all just temporary stewards. It is great to to pass something genuinely untouched on to those in the future." Hickox is president of The Winery at Bull Run which is adjacent to the property. "This is a special place," he says.

NVCT adds to String of Pearls in the Chesapeake

Seven landowners who have conserved their property with NVCT were honored last week by the Chesapeake String of Pearls Project.
Congratulations to Rich and Joan Bliss, Douglas and Barbara Cobb, Daniel DuVal and Karen Keys DuVal, Fredette and Tabitha Eagle, Jeffrey and Sally Lindsay, Edward and Molly Newberry, and Adrienne Stefan for being the newest of the 70 "Pearls" throughout the Chesapeake watershed. These easement properties are the first to be honored in Virginia by the String of Pearls and its founder and director, Dick Lahn. The ceremony in Great Falls included a display of plein air paintings of each of the seven properties, created that day by members of the Washington Society of Landscape Painters.
