NVCT's 4th annual photo contest offers two categories for adults : The Land and Water Around Us and Urban Nature, and a separate youth category for those under 18.
See entry form and information on our website. Wonderful prizes for our winners are from Earth Treks, Earth Sangha, George Washington's Mount Vernon, Great American Restaurants, KH Art & Framing, Meadowlark Gardens, and Sugar Shack Donuts & Coffee. Enter by midnight, Oct. 31.

Piedmont Memorial Overlook
Birds, Butterflies, and Blossoms on the Blue Ridge,
Wednesday, Oct. 18, 4-6 p.m., Paris, VA.
Join us for a program about managing your property for wildlife, biodiversity, and scenic beauty, located at Piedmont Memorial Overlook, a 50-acre mountaintop preserve, in Paris, VA. Sponsored by the Blue Ridge Conservation Alliance, NVCT, the Piedmont Environmental Council, and other organizations. Event is free, but reservations required at www.pecva.org/events.

Successful cleanup of Hunting Creek tidal estuary 
Twenty people in 13 kayaks came out for NVCT's Kayak Cleanup along Hunting Creek. Thanks to the volunteers, and to Alexandria Mayor Allison Silberberg who stopped by.
