College Corners
As you may have read in the last issue, we have begun providing our students with weekly "College Corners", where students at every GEAR UP school get the opportunity to learn more about college from their advisors. These College Corners give students the opportunity to discuss college, ask questions, and cultivate a better picture of their future in higher education.

College Corners for Juniors and Seniors are on Fridays from 11am-12pm at PVHS and 12pm-1pm at Bonanza High School, and feature different First-Year Advisors each week.

College Coordinator Jana Burd also hosts College Corners on Thursdays and Fridays with students from 7th-10th grade. See our social media for more details on subjects and time.
Introducing our Nye County Staff

We are proud to introduce our new Nye County GEAR UP Facilitators Barrie Fenton and Karina Lopez-Santillan, GEAR UP Specialist Jen Hagstrom, and Lisa Hamrick. Please give them a warm welcome as we continue on with the school year!
Barrie Fenton
GEAR UP Facilitator

I want to help inspire & motivate kids who, like myself, never thought college was an option. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, and pretty much any activity outside with my 5-year-old blue heeler, Holly. I am also a firm believer that pineapple belongs on pizza. :)
Karina Lopez-Santillan
GEAR UP Facilitator

This is Karina’s first year working for GEAR UP and she is excited to be a part of the GEAR UP team and work at her old high school to help students work towards their own goals and dreams. In her free time, you can find Karina watching Netflix, traveling, or spending time with friends and family!
Jen Hagstrom
GEAR UP Specilalist

Jennifer is passionate about helping students navigate the college and career exploration process after graduation, and loves visits from former students. In her spare time, Jen enjoys spending time with friends, family, travelling, and spoiling her dogs Breslin, and Wrigley. Jen is ecstatic to be a part of the GEAR UP family to do the exciting work of helping students to dream, believe and achieve their goals.
Campus Tours
This month, we have begun to release our virtual campus tours for our seven institutions. So far, the tours for WNC and UNLV have been released, with the rest on the way. The tours can be found on a playlist on our YouTube channel, which will be updated as more virtual tours are added. Be sure to subscribe and turn on notifications to be informed when these new campus tours are posted!
Planned Events
As we plan to end the year with a bang, we have several virtual events lined up for our students across the state. In addition to the events listed on the left, this month, we are excited to provide the following:
