Greetings!
Happy new year! As we move into 2021 with resolutions and goals, we hope to inspire ourselves to do even better than the year before. Despite the circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is no doubt that a great amount of strength and adaptability has been shown by everyone during the past year, and we are thankful to have so many driven and capable people on the GEAR UP team.

This digest features the welcoming of new GEAR UP staff, as well as the introduction of the new College Corners and GEAR UP Power Hour. See below for details and- as always- have a wonderful month!

College Corners & GEAR UP Power Hour
We are excited that the College Corners for all grade levels have resumed this month. In addition, we are introducing the new GEAR UP Power Hour. GEAR UP Power Hour was created as another touchpoint and opportunity to share information with our high school students outside of College Corner. The first GEAR UP Power Hour will be in late January/early February, and will be held every Tuesday at 12pm for Bonanza High school and at 1:30pm for PVHS. GEAR UP Power Hour will feature additional time for GEAR UP staff to meet with students by having guests, presentations, workshops, open discussions, and more!

Welcome New
GEAR UP Staff!

Please welcome Clare Cerda! Clare joined the Nevada GEAR UP program after working 2 ½ years with the Nevada Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. Prior to her state service she worked in the construction industry as a project administrator. Clare was born and raised in Nevada and spent all her younger years in the Nevada school systems. She comes to GEAR UP with a wide variety of administrative experience. In her free time, she runs a business as a wedding photographer and enjoys being in the outdoors with her 6-year-old Pitbull named Dutchess.

As you may have seen in last month's Digest, the NCCEP Capacity Building Workshop takes place this coming February. The workshop will feature "energizing burst keynote sessions" emphasizing the importance of EXCEL/PROVE/MOBILIZE strategies, interactive workshops, and skill-building seminars.
