Hello & Happy July!

We kick off next week with an Independance Day party on July 3rd. There will be a special lunch provided by the City and our Ukulele group will provide the entertainment with an interactive singalong performance. We will also be playing Bingo($1pp) after the performance at approx. 1/1:15pm. Please note there will be no Tai Chi as Fran will be on vacation. The Center will be closed on Thursday, July 4th but opening regular hours on the 5th.

There will be 2 Passport lunches this month with July 11 confirmed as a French inspired meal in honor of Bastille Day. No confirmation on the sencond date & food. July 17 is National Hot Dog Day so guess what? We're having a Hot Dog party! A sign up sheet will be at the front desk area. The Book Club book of the month is Tom Lake by Ann Patchett. Discussion takes place Thursday, 7/25 at 11am. Additionally, there will be another Sewing Day for Little Dresses for Africa on Wednesday, 7/24. Advanced sign up is appreciated but, as in past times, this is a drop-in event. All are welcome.

Please check the attached July Activity calendar for all July activities & the attached July menu. Thank you in advance for your understanding that both the menu & activities are subject to change. Calling ahead is always encouraged.

Please be careful in the extreme heat we have been experiencing. If you do not have air conditioning, please come to the Center to cool off. Additionaly, the Norwood Park pool is open Saturday to Thursday, closed Friday. Please see the park district for pool schedule.

For those interested, Monday mornings we now have various fresh fruits & vegatables in addition to breads & other misc. items courtesy of Whole Foods available on a first come, first served basis starting at 9:30am. Items will be displayed in the Community Room for your taking. We ask that you bring a bag and please only take what you will use. Please note this is a trial program. Additional items will be sent to the New Hope Food Pantry.

Speaking of the New Hope Food Pantry, we are still seeking members who would be interested in helping water the Hope Garden on Thursdays. Please contact me directly if you are able to pitch in. All food grown in the garden goes directly to the food pantry providing clients healthy, farm to table food options.

Finally, Thank you to all who donated to our 2024 Summer Appeal. We raised over $5000 to date! There is no deadline in giving but our next big push will be at the end of the year. Letters are ready for each donation given. Please ask the front desk if you weren't already given yours. If you have any questions about the Appeal, please feel free to approach me and I'd be happy to discuss in more detail.

As always, we are here, Mon-Fri, 8:30am-4:30pm unless otherwise noted. Please call or stop by with any questions. 773-775-6071. 5801 N Natoma, Chicago, IL 60631.

Take care & stay safe.
