Hello Everyone.

I hope this email finds you well. We are nearing the end of summer but have lots going on. I'm getting my September email out early to let you all know of some events happening next week & the early parts of September. Please note school is back on Monday, 8/26 which effects parking in the area and we will be closed on Monday, 9/2 for Labor Day.

First up we are bringing back the entertaining vaudville ladies known as the SOS Ensemble. They will be performing on Tuesday, 8/27 at 12pm. Lunch will be served starting at 11:30 to be ready for the show at 12. Please let us know if you would like lunch or just coming for the show. Limited lunches will be available. Chicken Alfredo is the menu item that day.

The same goes for Wednesday, 9/4. The FBI will be coming to discuss scams during this Lunch & Learn program. There are limited lunches so please let us know if you would like to eat otherwise all are invited to come listen. Teriyaki Chicken is on the menu.

Additionally on Thursday, 8/29 we will be visited by One Stop Beauty School who will be giving manicures for $8. We have 4 or 5 students coming from 11:30-2:30. Appointments and prepayment highly encouraged. Sign up at the front desk area for available time slots.

Speaking of lists at the front desk, we are taking names for those interested in taking the bus to the upcoming Senior Fest at Millenium Park. The City has been working hard to bring this event back and it is now happening on Thursday, 9/12. Everyone is invited to attend this free event. We are being provided one bus from the city but you are welcome to go on your own as well. Please see the attached flier for more details.

On Wednesday, 8/28 we will be hosting a now monthly sewing day for Little Dresses for Africa. All are welcome to stop into the community room from 8:30-3pm to sew. Machines will be available. This will also occur on 9/25.

Information for the next Goodman GeNarrations program is attached. Please remember you must schedule with the Goodman Theatre to secure your spot, not the senior center. Space is limited.

The September Book Club book has also been announced, The Lager Queen of Minnesota by J. Ryan Stradel. It will be discussed on Thursday, 9/26 at 11am.

In addition to our regular activities happening in September, we will be celebrating our 15th Anniversary on Thursday, 9/19! The beloved Na Kapuna Club will be providing the entertainment starting at 1pm. The City has scheduled a Passport lunch that date (after we scheduled entertainment) so the lunch menu is unknown at this time but will be a combo of Belizean & Hawaiian food. A sign up sheet is at the front desk to determine head count.

We also have our September Flu/Vaccination Clinic with a Senior Resource Fair planned for Friday, 9/27. Please watch for a sign up sheet & schedule for that day once more is confirmed.

I hope to see many of you at one or all of the events we have going on over the next week & month. I'm sure I forgot to mention everything which is why I encourage you all to visit the Center from time to time to get the most up-to-date information on current & future events.

Currently I am working on adding Zumba to our Friday activites. Let me know if you are interested so you can be called when a schedule is confirmed.

As always please call or stop by with any questions. We are here Monday - Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. 5801 N Natoma, Chicago, IL 60631. 773-775-6071.

Take Care & Stay Safe,
