At the December 13th General Membership Meeting, we discussed that the City of Newark was moving from the State Health Benefits Plan to a comparable AETNA plan (Equal to or Better Than). Members will be unenrolled from the State Health Benefits Plan effective January 31, 2023.
Your dental and your prescription plan will continue to be provided through the City of Newark Plan as enrolled. As of February 1, 2023, your health coverage will transition to AETNA. All information should be received prior to the February 1st start date.
If you do not receive your new insurance card and are in need of one for a visit prior to receiving your permanent card in the mail, a paper card can be printed through enrollment on the AETNA website at AETNA.com.
As we approach the deadline, be aware that contribution amounts will change in your pay.
Be vigilant and check your paystubs throughout the next month. Contact your medical providers to provide your new health insurance information.
