NACo Advocacy Update: Counties Secure Key Wins in House and Senate 2024 Farm Bill Proposals

Join a national membership call Friday, June 13 at 11a.m. MDT

  • Increased funding for rural development programs that help rural counties invest in our communities and deliver essential services to residents
  • Improvements to federal nutrition programs, supporting counties’ efforts to ensure vulnerable residents have access to healthy food
  • More robust support for small and beginning farmers, ensuring that these producers can continue to serve as the backbone of our communities
  • Extension of key land management authorities to county governments, allowing counties to participate in joint land management projects on public lands to mitigate wildfire risk, improve forest health, and create new recreational opportunities for residents and visitors
  • In the House version, a three-year reauthorization of Secure Rural Schools (SRS), which provides critical financial support to forest counties, funding services like education, infrastructure and emergency response
