Ready Set Go! Wildfire Preparedness Workshop April 27

Saturday, April 27 from 10am-1pm at Christ Church Santa Fe. Focusing on the topic, "How Does the Threat of Fire Affect your Homeowners Insurance?" there will be an insurance panel on homeowners' fire insurance. Experts from Fire Adapted NM Learning Network, Santa Fe fireshed Coalition, Forest Stewards Guild, City of Santa Fe Fire Department, and more. FREE!

NM Foundation for Open Governments Audit of County & City Websites

The New Mexico Foundation for Open Government conducted a survey of county and municipal websites to gauge whether the public could easily find pertinent government information online. The bulk of the audit was done by Frank Cardoza, University of New Mexico law student and FOG legal intern. Mr. Cardoza examined the websites of 31 cities and 27 counties and scored them on objective criteria, including Financial Data, Accountability Data, Public Meetings Information, Public Records Information, Contact Information, Other Frequently Sought Information, and Website Functionality and Ease of Use. Top three counties Santa Fe, Bernalillo, and Eddy Counties.

Federal Uniform Guidance Revisions

Recent updates from the White House Office of Management and Budget simplify federal grant processes, significantly impacting how counties manage federal funds. Key changes include simplified grant applications and higher thresholds for single audits. Effective October 1, 2024.

EPA Sets New Standards for PFAS in Drinking Water

The EPA's new regulations set stringent limits on PFAS levels, impacting counties that manage water utilities. Limits for PFOA and PFOS are set at four parts/trillion. NACo will provide updates and guidance for counties.
