The North Idaho College Board of Trustees is scheduled for a special meeting at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 28 in the Driftwood Bay Room of the Edminster Student Union Building on the NIC campus in Coeur d’Alene.
UPDATE Tuesday, March 28, 2023 11:50 a.m.: The NIC Board of Trustees agenda for the March 28 special meeting has been amended to add four action items in open session scheduled for 3:45 p.m. The open session will be held in the Lake Coeur d'Alene Room of the Edminster Student Union Building and via Zoom: https://nic.zoom.us/j/81770097102.

Do you know a faculty member that has been outstanding this year? Nominate them for a Faculty Achievement Award.
Criteria for judging are the following: teaching preparation and effectiveness, responsibly meeting contractual obligations, professional growth and professional ethics.
The deadline for nominations is Friday, April 7.
There is no form to fill out and just a letter of nomination in email form will suffice.

NIC Dental Hygiene Program
flower basket fundraiser

The NIC Dental Hygiene Program is hosting a flower basket fundraiser to help fund student activities.
Hanging flower baskets are $35 and and can be preordered by emailing Dental Hygiene Program Director Janis McClelland at janis.mcclelland@nic.edu.
Flowers will be available for pick up from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 6 at the Meyer Health and Sciences Building parking lot.
Funds raised are used to help support community oral health outreach projects, travel to Idaho Dental Hygienists’ Association Annual Sessions, dental conferences, research projects and student activities.

FY2023 Procurement and purchasing close
The end of the fiscal year 2023 is approaching and it is once again time to start planning for any remaining purchasing and expenditure activities.
These deadlines have been established according to North Idaho College’s internal processing requirements and to facilitate a timely year-end close and preparation of annual financial reports.
Planning should be made now to anticipate needs between May 25 and June 30 to ensure procurement of those needs occurs before the May 24 procurement close deadline

Join eLearning in Quality Matters workshop
Join the Office of eLearning for an online "Applying the Quality Matters Rubric Workshop" (APPQMR).
The workshop begins Tuesday, April 11 and ends Tuesday, May 2. The workshop is rigorous, and participants should plan to schedule about an hour a day to complete the course.
The Quality Matters Rubric is used to evaluate the design of online and blended courses. Quality Matters is a global organization, leading quality assurance in online and innovative digital teaching and learning environments.
Faculty who complete the workshop are eligible for 1.5 PDU credits. For more information regarding PDU’s or the process, please contact your division chair.

Cardinal Convocation set for Aug. 22 | |

Mark your calendars! Tuesday, Aug. 22 will be NIC’s third annual Cardinal Convocation.
Classes that meet before 4 p.m. will not take place, with the exception of Career Technical Education and Health Professions and Nursing courses.
Cardinal Convocation promotes retention and a sense of belonging for new students at NIC. It is required for First Year Experience students and serves as a celebration of the start of their NIC journey, as well as a formal introduction to the campus community.
Currently, it is only open to students registered for First Year Experience Seminar (CLC-120)*.
We hope all staff and faculty will attend the welcome address at Boswell Hall Schuler Performing Arts Center to welcome new students to campus. Students arrive at 9:15 a.m., so please arrive early to cheer them on as they enter!
Those who would like to volunteer for the event can register here. Each volunteer will receive a Cardinal Convocation T-shirt if they do not have one from previous years.

Hire a work-study student!
Does your department need extra help? Do you have an opportunity that will give a student valuable educational experience that can be added to their resume and put money in their pocket to help with additional expenses?
Are you a faculty member that needs to hire a teacher’s assistant?
All staff and faculty can be eligible to hire a work-study student in their office or department once the annual supervisor training has been completed.
For the 2022-2023 academic year, there are many changes and updates to the program. Training is required to learn about the program, re-up your knowledge and become authorized to hire.
