President Garry Friend was blessed by the collaboration of the Amherst/Monroe Ruritan, New Beginning Tabernacle, Northminister Evangelical Presbyterian Church, and First Baptist of Monroe who voted to share their annual offering to feed the hungry during the holidays with Neighbors Helping Neighbors. Ron Tomlin, President of Amherst/Monroe Ruritan presented the check on December 11. We appreciate the hearts of these folks who want to help those in need!
Neighbors Helping Neighbors appreciates our community for the many ways they support our mission.

  • Thank you to Northminister Evangelical Presbyterian Church for serving the evening meal to dinner guests on Tuesday, November 26. This is a great way for churches to reach out into our community and build relationships that will help to transform lives! Visit our website to volunteer www.nhnamherst.org.
  • A shout out to the Acteens of MHBC who helped with the NHN Madison Heights Food Kitchen on Wednesday, November 27. They baked cookies and set up the "give away" tables. Great work, Girls and Acteens Leaders!
  • A huge thank you to Joan Owen who brought handmade dish cloths, hats and teddy bears for our guests on December 5 to be distributed at the Food Warehouse.
  • Thank you to Johnson Health Center who partnered with NHN to provide a free health screening for our clients on Saturday, December 7.

Thank you to the anonymous angel or angels who dropped off a new rolling cart to help transport items from the MHBC pantry to the food kitchen.
A shout out to Alexander Smith , future Eagle Scout who donated his service project, a lumber rack, to NHN. We are always blessed by the thoughtfulness
"Warehouse Angels" fill our containers once again!
On December 15, NHN was blessed once again to find our donation containers filled with food for our clients. We appreciate hearts in tune to the needs of others!
Correction:

A huge thank you goes out to Stuart at the Briar Patch (not Sweet Briar College) who oversaw the roasting, carving and delicious gravy preparation for NHN Thanksgiving turkeys!! Our guests enjoyed these mouth watering delights the week of Thanksgiving!
Thank you to Tiffany and the students of Centra College who helped with a can drive for NHN!
NHN is very thankful for Elecom Inc., Eric Spitzer, and Sheriff Viar for helping provide equipment to help us manage our increasing number of clients.
Thank you to the Church of Latter Day Saints Ward 2 and Sandra Rodgers for the donation of coats, gloves, and hats for the food kitchen on December 18.
A shout out to Aftershock Softball for the food drive to support the NHN Food Warehouse. Youth participation is always a special blessing!
Volunteer Spotlight
This month as the year 2019 comes to an end, NHN expresses their sincere appreciation for our amazing Volunteers. Without them, we could not serve our community as efficiently and compassionately as we do. From filling Christmas stockings for children to having a little fun while working hard to serve families, we salute you all!! May God bless and strengthen each of you in 2020.
