Happy Summer!

We hope you are experiencing a great start to the summer as we all prepare for one of New Hampshire's busiest times of the year.
To help locals and tourists "get out there", we're delivering our latest magazine, Buy Local New Hampshire, to sites all across the Granite State.  This beautiful magazine is the perfect shopping companion for those who want to unplug from the digital world as they immerse themselves in the New Hampshire experience.

In this newsletter, we're sharing some highlights from NH's media day in New York City as well as some new sales opportunities for the fall, including how to sell your product at the Big E Farmer's Market. Be sure to check out the "Save the Date" section at the bottom of this newsletter, where we list classes and community events that you can harness to grow your business.

NH Media Day

The NH Division of Travel and Tourism Development (DTTD) hosted a media reception in New York City for national and regional travel writers to share some of the state's unique stories and help keep New Hampshire top of mind as a travel destination.

This year's theme was a New Hampshire General Store, which was stocked with NH  Made member products.  The event was well attended by a variety of different publications, including Travel & Leisure magazine, Fodor's Travel, Thrillist, Rachel Ray Show, National Geographic and BBC Travel.

Utilizing our Member Directory, the NH DTTD selected products from the following members:  A&E Coffee & Tea, Abnormal Creations, Blackwater Mustard, Camp Mix, Candletree, Cats in the Cradle, Fuller's Sugarhouse, Homemade Specialty Soups, Jenness Farm Soaps , Kellerhaus, Maple Nut Kitchen, Paintings by Gisele D.Thompson, Parker & Sons Coffee, Polly's Pancake Parlor, Port City Pretzels, White Heron Tea, White Mountain Candle Company, Winnipesaukee Chocolates, and Woodshed Roasting Company.

We recommend keeping your member profile page up-to-date to maximize your chances of being selected for these media opportunities. You can edit your member profile by logging into nhmade.com. Each member has a unique user name and password. You can revise your description and even change out pictures. If you've forgotten your log-in information or have trouble logging in, please email Heather at heather@nhmade.com.
Big E Farmer's Market and Wine Shop

The Big E is creating a Farmer's Market as part of this year's event (September 14th -30th). The fair is looking for products either grown, produced or manufactured within New England.  Items will need to be available no later than August 15th.

This year, there is a beautiful new building that can accommodate  cheese, wine, fiber arts and even refrigerated products in addition to general items that are typically found in a country store. Wine, cider, and cheese makers must also enter the product competition (you do not need to win to be selected for the market). All producers are encouraged to sample and/or demonstrate their products to drive sales. The Big E does its best to forecast demand for products based on the historical performance of similar products and asks that makers accept returns for items not sold at the end of the fair.

Links to the application and details on product competitions can be found below. There are also competitions for granola, gourmet popcorn and handcrafted items. For specific questions about these sales opportunities, please reach out directly to
Elena Shannon or Alicia Audet at 413-205-5011 or by email at  Aginfo@thebige.com. Application deadline is July 1st.

Besty Booth (NH Made Board of Trustees)  has been extensively involved with the Big E for many years and can provide additional insights on this major event and the past experiences of NH Made members. Besty can be reached at bbooth@metrocast.net.

It's time to start planning for  NH Eat Local Month , an annual event in August that celebrates local food and farming in our state.

You can become a partner in this month long initiative. Partners will receive a listing on NH Eat Local Month's website, ideas on how to celebrate NH farms and local food and event marketing templates to make it easy to get the word out about your participation.

NH Made is participating along with the NH Department of Agriculture,  Monadnock Buy Local,  CC&D's Kitchen Market,  Flag Hill Winery & Distillery,  Pinewoods Yankee Farm, Root Seller Marketplace and many others  to amplify the "Eat Local" message and empower more of us to celebrate the harvest. 2018 "Buy Local" Magazine

The newest edition of our Buy Local New Hampshire magazine is out! The winner of this year's cover photo contest was Donald Hundgen of Hundlerut Studio in Plymouth. In his Member Story, Donald credits New Hampshire's free-spirited nature and casual social tone for nurturing his creativity. He also gives affordable art lessons to special needs students while bringing art and culture to his community. NH Made is proud to be able to share his story!

The magazine is currently being distributed through state-operated welcome centers and community events. We now need your help to extend our efforts by sharing this magazine with your customers and guests. This can help build your brand as a "buy local" advocate and supports fellow NH Made members by raising awareness of their businesses too. Copies of the magazine are available at no cost to all NH Made members (regardless of whether or not you have a listing).

If you would like a box of magazines for your business or nonprofit organization, please email Heather at heather@nhmade.com. There are 58 copies to a box.
