2018 Election Spotlight
August 14, 2018
For the 2018 midterm elections, the NFRW's goal is to DEFY HISTORY by holding on to our Republican majorities in the House and the Senate (historically, the President's party almost always loses seats in the midterm election).

WE NEED YOU TO HELP!

Between now and election day, the NFRW will be profiling Republican candidates in the top Senate races as well as key Republican women in or running for the House. These races are key to maintaining Republican control of the House and Senate.
We Need Marsha Blackburn from Tennessee
in the U.S. Senate!
TENNESSEE - MARSHA BLACKBURN
WHY is MARSHA running?
Marsha Blackburn is running for U.S. Senate to be a force for positive conservative change. She’s been a change agent all her life. When Tennessee needed someone to lead the fight against the state income tax, she stepped up, she led and the people of the state joined with her to defeat the tax. When she was first elected to Congress, she made good on her promise to restore Tennesseans' ability to deduct their state and local sales tax from their federal income tax filing. When Congress needed someone to investigate Planned Parenthood and third-party baby body part sellers, she led that investigation and delivered 15 criminal referrals.
WHAT makes MARSHA a great candidate?
Marsha Blackburn is a third generation Federation member . Marsha's mother, Mary Jo Wedgeworth, is a past president of the Jones County Republican Women in Mississippi and remains active at 93, attending local club meetings and making GOTV calls every election. Marsha is a current member of the Tennessee Federation .

  • Solid record of loyalty, commitment, and showing respect for differing opinions that allows robust respectful political debate. That is the type of energy that she is going to take to the U.S. Senate.
  • Political philosophy guided by “The Big Five”: faith, family, freedom, hope, and opportunity. Marsha is a problem solver with a history of getting things done. That’s how she has served the people she represents and how she will continue to serve Tennesseans in the Senate.
  • Led the efforts to combat human trafficking, introducing legislation to make it easier for law enforcement officials to take action against morally repugnant websites that facilitate sex trafficking, such as backpage.com. In 2016, She brought the issue of needed mental health legislation to the NFRW, and we worked with her to see this legislation signed into law.
  • Dedicated to expanding rural broadband in Tennessee to make access to reliable, consistent high speed internet a reality to all Tennesseans. Without 21st century internet, it is impossible to have 21st century education, 21st century healthcare, and 21st century businesses.
