Media, Gender & Hegemony
Tuesday, Feb 9th
8 p.m. EST online
Join us for a lively discussion with Elizaveta Friesem, PhD., who is exploring media not as a "thing" we can be influenced by or use, but as a form of human communication that consolidates yet also challenges the social system by allowing both dominant and subversive ideologies to flow through it. Instead of blaming the media or individuals who produce certain media texts, Friesem asks: How do we all contribute to the status quo through communication processes? How can we, by educating ourselves about ideologies that circulate in our culture, fight against in inequalities that plague society?
Join
