Dear Southernites and Friends:
I just landed in Tokyo and will be in Asia on business for about a week. I hate that I will miss our big game tomorrow against Jackson State. However, our Jackson Alumni Chapter has really planned a special weekend for us. I strongly encourage all of you travelling to Jackson to join in the festivities Chapter President Garry Brown and the Jackson Alumni Chapter members have planned for the Jaguar Nation this weekend.
Speaking of alumni chapters, congratulations to the newly - chartered Southern University Alumni Federation Central Texas Chapter. The chapter elected officers who were sworn in last weekend. The SUAF Executive Board looks forward to working with our newest chapter in the Federation. I would also like to welcome Central Texas Chapter President Lori Lewis to the Executive Council composed of all of the chapter presidents around the country as well as our Executive Board.
Last weekend, Chapter President Jackie Tate and the Washington Parish Chapter hosted a roundup in Bogalusa, LA. SU Board Chair, Ms. Ann Smith, and SU System President-Chancellor, Dr. Ray Belton, joined the roundup held at the home of Melvin and Alice Keith.
Our chapters are continuing to grow, and I am so proud of our Regional Directors, Officers and Staff who have been working so hard to demonstrate the great value of being a member of the Federation and helping to reactivate old and charter new chapters.
