Dear Southernites and Friends:
Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Bayou Classic, Jaguars!
We certainly have much to be thankful for this holiday season. I personally am very thankful for my wonderful family, friends, and a great University that I enjoy serving. I am also grateful for our alumni and the incredible dedication that we have for our alma mater. Houston Chapter President, Pamela LaBrane, and National SUYAN Chairman, Deion Dorsett, and their respective boards and committees did an absolutely fantastic job hosting the Southern University family in Houston last week when the Jaguars played Texas Southern. It was just another great example of the Southern University family reuniting in all parts of the country. I am still recovering from the food and drinks in Houston, and look forward to a weekend off to recuperate and get ready for the big weekend ahead.
Next week, after we give thanks on Thanksgiving Day, my family looks forward to traveling to New Orleans for the Bayou Classic festivities. This event is a successful Southern University collaborative event. For many years, the Southern University System Foundation has served as the manager of this historic event on behalf of the Southern University A&M campus. Kudos to the Foundation, its Board and staff on what I know will be another exciting Classic.
I want to thank the New Orleans Alumni Chapter, led by President Hillery Johnson, for hosting our alums and friends. The hospitality events that are being planned by the Chapter and our Young Alumni Network should be a lot of fun. Of course, we have our usual line-up of events for the Bayou Classic weekend, that can be seen here in

, along with the big game, that will make this Thanksgiving holiday one of the best ever.
Again, Happy Thanksgiving, and I look forward to seeing you in New Orleans for the Bayou Classic this coming week.
