Your Weekly Message from the President
Dear Southernites and Friends:


As I prepare to board a plane headed to Florida this weekend to meet with work colleagues from around the country, I’m deeply concerned about my home state of Louisiana. In my message last week, I spoke of all of the progress that Southern University has made over the last couple of years, and how our vision for the future was so bright. However, local Louisiana newspapers are littered this week with articles about Louisiana’s “fiscal cliff”. After nearly a decade of Draconian budget cuts through the Jindal Administration, the last two years for higher education have been a bit of a reprieve. Like you, I have been pleased to see enrollment numbers increase throughout our system. Local donors, like the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, Cane’s, and so many other supporters of Southern have made substantial donations to our great University expressing confidence in our progress.

It's Election Time Again!

A candidate can purchase campaign advertisement space in Federation's  News and Notes  emailed  weekly  to approximately 50,000 alums and supporters. Campaign advertisement space can be purchased for weekly publication at sualumni.org via the ONLINE STORE . The Nominations & Elections Committee is requesting your participation for our inaugural 'Meet the Candidate' on March 3, 2018. We are inviting all alums to submit questions to the candidate panel. Deadline to submit questions is Monday, February 19, 2018.
MEMBER VOTING ELIGIBILITY NOTICE

The election of July 1, 2018 - June 30, 2020 Federation national officers will occur this year. Let your vote count. Join the SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY ALUMNI FEDERATION before February 28, 2018 in order to receive a ballot. For current members, this is the cutoff date to update your contact information as well.
