Save the Date - Spring Meeting 2024

Join NEWEA in Newport, RI May 19-22 for our 2024 Spring Meeting.


This meeting will convene more than 300 engineers, consultants, scientists, operators, and students for a variety of technical sessions, a tour, exhibitor displays, the Operations Challenge competition, and much more.

Submit an Award Nomination

NEWEA is now accepting nominations for NEWEA and WEF Awards! Honor the work of a deserving water professional by submitting an award nomination on their behalf. Self nominations are encouraged.


Award recipients will be honored at the Awards Ceremony and Luncheon at NEWEA's 2025 Annual Conference.

Weston & Sampson Welcome New Senior Technical Leader

Weston & Sampson recently welcomed Andy Reid, PE, BCEE, as a Senior Technical Leader in their Water Practice in Reading, Massachusetts. Andy has over 25 years of experience leveraging his skills with municipal water systems to impact communities positively. He brings significant experience in municipal water treatment and distribution and is adept in all phases of capital improvement planning and stakeholder involvement.  


Andy will work with clients to help them meet their needs for high quality water and obtaining funding to support their goals. He can be reached at reid.andrew@wseinc.com.

In Memory of David K. Blake

NEWEA is sorry to share the news that NEWEA Past President (1982) and 1984 inductee into the Select Society of Sanitary Sludge Shovelers David Blake passed away on February 12, 2024.


Following service in the United States Army and Reserve, David earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from University of Massachusetts and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University before going to work for Metcalf and Eddy. He spent the majority of his professional career at Weston & Sampson Engineers Inc.. He contributed to the profession through membership and leadership of industry associations, including the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC of MA, President, 1980-1981 and Life Fellow), New England Water Environment Association (NEWEA, President, 1982), and New England Water Pollution Control Association (President).


There will not be visiting hours. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 95 Woburn St., Reading, MA on May 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Burial with military honors and Mason’s Ceremony will follow at Forest Glen Cemetery in Reading.
