Welcome to the first issue of our newly revamped newsletter! Each month, we aim to update you on resources, events, news, advocacy, and much more. As we step into June, we're spotlighting Men's Health Month with a special PEP Talk and sharing tips on how to prevent blood clots during summer travel.

Did you know that the overall risk of blood clots is slightly higher in men than in women? Many athletes, such as 2x Super Bowl winner Trey Smith, have had bloods clots. Join our June PEP Talk on Tuesday, June 11 at 7 p.m. ET to learn more and protect yourself and your family.

HEALTH TIPS

Preventing Blood Clots During Summer Travel

Traveling more than four hours carries

an increased risk for blood clots. The risk is greater for people who have had a clot previously. Prevention tips include:



  • Move your legs and feet
  • Get up and walk every hour or so
  • Drink plenty of fluids
  • Do not cross your legs
  • Wear loose clothing
  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol
  • Know the signs/symptoms of blood clots
