NET RESEARCH PRIORITIES SURVEY RESULTS
In March CNETS Canada reached out to the patient community through an online, anonymous survey to gather feedback and input on setting the research priorities for CNETS Canada sponsored grants for the next 2-3 years. 
 
We received 187 responses from across Canada with 75% of the replies from patients. One of the most significant findings was 90% of respondents who have donated to NET research in the past, will continue to support NET cancer research in the future. 75% of respondents indicated the motivating factor for donating to NET research is “hoping for a cure”. When asked where should research funds be directed towards the community priorities were, clinical trials (74%), immunotherapy (50%), PRRT (48%), Ga68 (47%) and basic science (33%).
 
Based on the positive community feedback, CNETS Canada will launch the 2018 Call for NET Research Grant Applications with the community priorities for NET research as part of the eligibility criteria for applications.

2018 FUNDRAISING EVENTS - UPDATE
Banque Scotia 21k de Montreal
Congratulations to TEAM ZEBRA / EQUIPE ZEBRE MONTREAL in raising $5,000 for NET cancer research in Canada, at the 2018 Banque Scotia 21k de Montreal. This was the first time CNETS Canada had a team and participated in this race.
 
Huge thank you to Daniel Opoku, Team Captain, Marie-Anne Risdon and everyone who supported and cheered on the team.


Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend
Congratulations to TEAM ZEBRA OTTAWA , in raising $13,000 for NET cancer research in Canada, at the Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend.
 
Huge thank you to Natalie Mezey (Team Captain), Hunter Fox, Bryde Fresque, Catharine Young, Ken Young, Alisha Bailey, Stephanie Goubau, Claire MacArthur and a very special thank you to Sherry O'Grady Fox! Team Zebra Ottawa was the 4 th Top Fundraising Team and Hunter Fox was 3 rd Top Fundraiser!

Join our ever-growing TEAM ZEBRA TORONTO on October 21, 2018 and Run or Walk with NET Zebras to help us raise funds for NET cancer research!
 
Fundraising events are critical for CNETS Canada to be able to support research initiatives specific to neuroendocrine cancer. CNETS Canada is the only Canadian charitable, patient-driven organization funding NET specific research in Canada and we can't do it without your help!

WORLD NET CANCER AWARENESS DAY
On Saturday, November 10 th , 2017 – World NET Cancer Day, businesses and coffee shops around the world will be raising awareness about NETs using special coffee cups designed for that day.
 
Do you have a local favourite hang-out location, who would be interested in participating in NET Cancer Day Awareness? We are looking for volunteers to help identify and enlist coffee shops (or other businesses that would have use for coffee cups) across Canada, to use our “Let’s Talk About NETs” coffee cups on November 10, 2018.
 
We’re taking the grass roots approach to this campaign and need your help to get the word out there! Thanks so much to the volunteers who have come forward already. We can’t wait to update the community on your plans, which we will do in the weeks leading up November 10, 2018. If you can help us in this awareness effort, please email Enrico Mandarino at   info@cnetscanada.org

ONLINE PRIVATE NET PATIENT SUPPORT GROUP
Canadian Carcinoid NeuroEndocrine Zebras

Is a Canadian based private Facebook Support Group for NET patients. The group was formed to help connect and support NET patients from across Canada.

Currently with over 530 members, the group is a place to share personal experiences, doctor recommendations, treatments, clinical trials and information to aid in navigating the Canadian healthcare system. Kindness, support and love to all.

In order to join this group, you confirm that you are a NET cancer patient, or a caregiver of a NET cancer patient.

Group members are also asked to review and agree to adhere to the SUPPORT GROUP GUIDELINES

NET PATIENT EDUCATION
On April 14, 2018 CNETS Canada hosted the first French NET Patient Conference in Montreal. The conference was a huge success with over 75 patients and caregivers attending. Huge thank you to Marie-Anne Risdon and Daniel Opoku for organizing the day.

2018 MAUREEN COLEMAN AWARD NOMINATIONS
One way that CNETS Canada honours those individuals who have made an outstanding commitment and contribution to the NET cancer patient community is through our annual Maureen Coleman award.
 
The 2017 Maureen Coleman Award recipients Daniel Opoku and Dr. Eric Turcotte, received their award during the first French NET Patient Conference in Montreal. For more information on the 2017 recipients CLICK HERE .
