PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
It is my pleasure to once again share a quick note on the work of CNETS Canada over the past several months. As always, we have been incredibly busy and are happy to report a lot of great success, which you will read further about in this issue of our newsletter. It always amazes me how fast time flies by!

We were absolutely delighted with the excellent turnout and presentation quality at our 2019 National Patient and Caregiver Conference. These events are critical educational resources for both newly diagnosed and seasoned patients and they provide a rare opportunity for patients and caregivers to engage with Canadian medical experts from across Canada outside of the clinic. A huge thanks to all of our presenters for taking time away from their families and out of their weekends to dedicate to the patient and caregiver community. Your dedication to us is very heartwarming and appreciated. Also a huge thanks to our funders, without whom we would not be able to provide these incredible events.

We are excited by the multi-disciplinary additions to our Scientific & Medical Advisory Board that you will read about in this issue of our newsletter and the launch of our 2 nd annual Medical & Scientific Meeting. It is important for CNETS Canada to work with, support and engage the Canadian medical community who are critical to the NET patient journey and we are delighted to continue forging ahead with these critical relationships and events.

Another notable success so far this year is the Montreal and Ottawa Fundraising events, which together have raised over $22,000 for NET cancer research! Way to go Team Zebra Montreal and Team Zebra Ottawa. The ongoing commitment of our community to raise critical funds for NET cancer research is so appreciated and much needed. We are looking forward to great success for our third Team Zebra event in Toronto in October. We had an incredible team last year and a huge fundraising amount and are looking to top it and grow the team even more. If you are in the GTA and willing to walk or run as a member of Team Zebra in October 2019 please don’t hesitate to join. It is a wonderful event and it feels great to give back and contribute to our cause.
2019 NATIONAL NET PATIENT CONFERENCE
The  2019 National NET Patient Conference included state-of-the-art topics and presentations on NET cancer diagnosis and treatment in the Canadian context.

Thanks again to our speakers, patients, caregivers and medical professionals, who came from across the country to share their experiences, knowledge and expertise, and our funders, without whom we could not offer these critical sessions for NET cancer patients.

We are delighted to share that the 2019 National NET Patient Conference presentations  are now available on CNETS Canada website!

COMMUNITY EVENTS / FUNDRAISING TOOLKIT
CNETS Canada relies 100% on our community across the country to raise the critical dollars required to fund Canadian NET cancer research. As an organization we utilize the Scotiabank Marathon events that take place in multiple cities across Canada as our main fundraising platform. We have had incredible patient and caregiver engagement on these events and raised a substantial sum from them. However we also rely on community organized events of which there have been many over the years. We are so grateful to every community member who holds their own fundraising event, regardless of how big or small. For anyone who is considering organizing an event we are delighted to launch our Fundraising Toolkit, to be used as a supportive guide throughout the event.

A special thanks to our Fundraising Toolkit Committee, Alwyn Robertson (Chair), Amanda Rice, Enrico Mandarino, Vanessa Mann, Tracey Sherwood and Lucy Kuczma, who worked very hard on updating this resource for our community. In addition to this resource, we are always available to provide support and answer questions – just reach out at i nfo@cnetscanada.org .

ONLINE PRIVATE NET SUPPORT GROUPS

CNETS Canada now has three private, online support groups to help connect and support NET patients and caregivers from across Canada.

and our newest private, online French support group

With a combined membership of over 750 members, these groups are a place to share personal experiences, doctor recommendations, treatments, clinical trials and information to aid in navigating the Canadian healthcare system. Kindness, support and love to all.

In order to join one of our groups, you confirm that you are a NET cancer patient, or a caregiver of a NET cancer patient.

Group members are also asked to review and agree to adhere to the SUPPORT GROUP GUIDELINES
SUPPORT CONTACTS & SUPPORT GROUPS
CNETS Canada also continues to encourage and support face-to-face support in regions throughout Canada.

We are always on the lookout for individuals who want to be a support contact in their region. We are flexible in defining the role and the warm, caring souls who take on this role should find it easy and fulfilling.

Many times people feel isolated and would like to connect with others in their region to offer each other support. Volunteering to be a Support Contact usually starts with phone calls, emails, to informal meetings with NET patients, family members, caregivers and friends.
