We love to celebrate good news in our member libraries, so this month, we're celebrating the groundbreaking of the Nexus Center in Flagler County, which will house the new and long-awaited Bunnell Branch Library!
Library Director Holly Albanese and her staff have worked tirelessly to make this new facility a reality, and we're excited to see the doors open to the public in 2025. Congratulations, Flagler County Public Library!
In other good news...the 2024 NEFLIN Annual Meeting is just around the corner! There are only a few spots left - don't miss your chance to attend!

Featured Workshop
Emerging Leader Training
with James Songster
| |
|
NEFLIN is proud to present this special opportunity, available only for our members!
James Songster's Emerging Leader Training series has garnered accolades for several years. Libraries across the state have recently had the opportunity to experience this multi-part workshop series and raved about it. Normally the workshops are presented over five sessions, but in deference to member concerns about tight staffing and few opportunities to leave for training, NEFLIN is presenting the complete series as a two day intensive workshop.
Join us for two magical Thursdays, September 19 and 26, in Gainesville at the Alachua County Library District Headquarters. You will rarely have the opportunity to learn so much about yourself and your capacity to lead in such a short time. The five workshops presented over these two days, Unlocking Leader Magic, Unlocking Teamwork Magic, Unlocking Creativity Magic, Unlocking a Purposefully Created Culture, and the Leader Summit Capstone, will make you a stronger leader in many ways that you haven't considered.
For more information on James, his career and presentations, please visit his website.

Meet the Trainer: James Songster
|
Combining his career as a professional Magician, with his expertise as a Disney instructor on the subject of Emerging Leadership, ideally positions James Songster as a legendary “double threat”.
For the better part of 30 years James trained Walt Disney World Cast Members and was a recipient of the prestigious Disney Legacy Award, one of the highest recognition honors presented by the Walt Disney Co. His career, and established expertise, in the delivery of education programs on the subject of emerging leadership training have made him highly sought after by universities, colleges and organizations looking to improve the skills of their own emerging leaders.
In 2017 James Songster launched this specialized series of seminars and workshops combining his knowledge of Disney heritage and operating philosophies, with his love of Magic. This has made it possible for a select number of clients who need to improve their own emerging leadership, teamwork, or creativity skills to work directly with James.

2025 Innovation Projects
Open now for applications!
| |
For the last few months, we've been highlighting the 11 NEFLIN member libraries who are recipients of a 2024 Innovation Project Award. These libraries all submitted their innovative ideas to the NEFLIN Board, who then awarded up to $7,500 for each winning idea. All of the libraries are working now to put their projects into action, and they will share their progress and results at the NEFLIN Annual Meeting on September 13th.
|
If you've been inspired by our 2024 Innovation Projects, now is the time to develop a project for your library. Any NEFLIN member library is encouraged to submit a project proposal by November 15, 2024.
For the application, more information, and a list of past Innovation Projects, go to http://neflin.org/InnovationProject/.

For the last few months, we've been celebrating 30 years of NEFLIN, and for this final installment, we're highlighting...drum roll, please! The NEFLIN Annual Meeting!
For the NEFLIN staff, the Annual Meeting is a little bit like New Years Day. We look back at what we did (or didn't!) accomplish in the past year and look ahead in anticipation of new projects and events.
| |
|
For NEFLIN members, we hope the Annual Meeting is a positive day of learning and networking with a good bit of camaraderie mixed in. The Annual Meeting is, after all, where the famous NEFLIN shoes originated!
Take a look back at some of the good times we've had at Annual Meetings through the years. We hope to see you at a future meeting!
