November 2012
Greetings!

The NEFLIN staff are always aware of how much e-mail we send to our members. However, we do need to find a balance between too much, and not keeping you informed. Our new approach is to send out this monthly newsletter containing information about our services, in addition to our new weekly Tech-Talk e-mails  and occasional e-mails about our workshops.  Let us know if this works for you.

NEFLIN is pleased to announce a recent addition to our Equipment Loan Program.  The Panama Canal Museum has donated a "Museum In A Trunk" to us.  Borrow the trunk to provide library programs about the canal as 2014 will be the 100th anniversary of its opening.

The contents of the trunk include; Lesson Plans, Books, DVDs, Maps, and Artifacts. Lessons are available in both English and Spanish. Contact NEFLIN to schedule for pickup and use of the trunk. We also want to thank Dr. Rachel Schipper, University of Florida Smathers Libraries, for making this donation possible.

Curation and the Library
Tuesday, December 11
10-11 am ET

Librarians have always curated collections. However, in today's digital world there are lots of new ways to organize resources for customers. Tools like Pinterest make it possible to develop displays of new materials and give customers the chance to comment on what's in the library. Storify gives the library a chance to tell a story about resources while letting the community know what the library provides. In this webinar you will find out what web-based curation is all about, the tools that are available for curating content, and how to select the right tool for your purpose.

Virtual Trainer: Linda Braun, Project Management and Consulting Coordinator for Librarians and Educators Online (LEO)
