New Feature: Question of the Month
|
This month marks the beginning of a new feature:
Question of the Month!
Each month we will post a new question through our newsletter and ask NEFLIN members to share something they are doing in their libraries with us through social media.
Seeing your work via Facebook gives us all a look at the impact you're having on your communities. We encourage you to engage in these questions and share the wealth of good ideas, strategies, and approaches being within our membership.
Don't forget to "like" NEFLIN on Facebook! We'll like you back, follow your library, and share what other libraries in our region are doing with programming, marketing, community engagement, and more!

We Need to Hear from YOU
|
This summer, NEFLIN is partnering with New Horizons to bring you a series of Adobe classes.
We are looking to offer additional face-to-face training opportunities like these, but we need to hear from YOU!
Examples of other classes we may be able to offer include: Adobe, HTML (Web Design with HTML5 and CSS3), Microsoft, and more.

23 Mobile Things Wrapup
|
As you may have heard 23 Mobile Things wrapped up on June 30th. Staff at all levels throughout northeast Florida conquered fears, overcame obstacles and moved forward by embracing this program.
The feedback by participants has been phenomenal!
Participants learned 23 free apps, attended classes, communicated via social media, and created promotional images, audios, and videos. They became comfortable promoting themselves and their libraries. They connected with other participants and considered libraries from a global perspective. 124 library staff finished the six month program and 4,062 individual Things were completed.
The site 23things.neflin.org is now open to anyone who would like to see what the hoopla was about or who would like to learn about any of the Things on their own. Users expect libraries to be in the mobile space and 23 Mobile Things ensures that staff is comfortable in that environment.

Member Spotlight on Keiser University
|
Keiser University Library - Jacksonville
Lynn Mayfield, Campus Library Director
Keiser University is a private, regionally accredited university, founded 38 years ago in South Florida to fill a need for career-oriented higher education. "Students First" is the university's motto which the librarians at the Jacksonville Campus demonstrate each day. Keiser University's fast-paced curriculum is a challenge to both student and librarian as multiple projects and papers must be completed within one month. The librarians work closely with faculty to guide the students with research for specific assignments. Library instruction is offered both individually and collectively by class.
The Jacksonville Campus is one of 20 KU campuses in Florida. The library website www.keiserlibrary.com includes a catalog of both print and electronic resources from all campuses which are available for reserve through the library's interlibrary loan service. The website also provides students, staff, and faculty access to multiple academic and scholarly databases.
The Jacksonville Campus Library employs two full-time librarians, both with teaching experience and both very active in campus affairs including student organizations, faculty professional development, and community involvement. The Jacksonville Campus provides a quality education with a personal touch.
