Due to a kind donation by Dr. Rachel Schipper of the University of Florida Smathers Libraries, NEFLIN has added a canopy to its equipment loan program. The 18' x 30' canopy seats 75 people comfortably in the shade.

Interest Groups Preparing to Launch
|
We appreciate everyone who took their time to answer a brief survey about NEFLIN establishing Interest Groups. A few brave souls also stepped forward and agreed to lead these groups. Our expectation is to have the groups ready to launch when the next quarterly schedule of training is sent out in late February. We'll post any activity about the Interest Groups at this URL on the NEFLIN website: http://www.neflin.org/interestgroups.

NEFLIN Annual Survey
|
Give us your input on NEFLIN training and services by taking our brief online ANNUAL SURVEY. The results will help shape our projects for the coming year as well as impact the Continuing Education program offerings.
We want to hear from everyone, even those who haven't attended NEFLIN training or used our services. A separate email will be sent inviting all staff to take the survey which takes about 15 minutes to complete and will be available through Friday, January 25.

"An Extension of NEFLIN Training..."
|
"From marketing your library to e-book collections to library leaders to leadership, the NEFLIN Lending Library offers a large variety of books and other materials on a diverse range of subjects. The materials are those that would not fall within my library's collection, but are useful and enable me to be a better librarian. Learning leadership skills, best practices for marketing, and how to effectively communicate are all topics of the materials I have checked out. I view the NEFLIN Lending Library as an extension of the NEFLIN webinars and workshops: resources to make librarians and libraries in Northeast Florida better!" - Jamie Keller, Florida Coastal School of Law

Thu., January 312 - 3 pm ET Webinar
What is the use of a library if nobody comes? Or worse, what if they come but don't come back?
Libraries offer a compelling set of resources and services to meet the needs of their communities. But old service models often focus on the needs of the library first, and the user second.
Retail establishments such as bookstores, coffee shops, information services, computing services, and purveyors of e-readers are all encroaching on the library's core user base by replicating services traditionally associated with libraries. They really know what they're doing, and we can, too!
Consumer research has shown repeatedly that understanding user needs and cultivating good customer relationships is key to the success of the modern organization. Creating a customer-focused library enables staff to know their users and meet their needs. A customer-focused library means more users, engaged staff, and a satisfying relationship with your community.
This one-hour webinar will present exciting success stories of customer-focused libraries, and will give participants strategies to shift their own libraries to a customer focus.
