Althea Bramhall Driving Arena Dedication Ceremony

Our first NEECA DRIVERS' day was on Monday, April 22nd. Our driving arena is now regulation-sized for driven dressage, yet another improvement to NEECA we have already accomplished this year.

We were so pleased to be able to toast to Althea Bramhall for having the arena named after her. It is a well-deserved honor for her determined dedication to adding the driving discipline to our equestrian park. Thank you, Althea, for all that you have done!

If You "See The Hay, Please Stay Away"

We're working hard to make NEECA "look pretty" this year. Part of this effort includes the spreading of top soil and planting of grass seed in front of the warm-up arena, and back in the corner of the driving area. These two areas will be covered with hay and we ask that you avoid walking/riding on them so the grass has the chance to grow and get established. Thank you in advance for your help with this. :)

NEECA Work Day A HUGE Success!

Mother Nature threw us a bone and we wound up having a pretty decent weather day for this year's first Work Day at NEECA. And we have NEVER had so many people show up to help out. It was so encouraging to see over 30 volunteers taking time out of their day to come up and help NEECA get spruced up for the coming season.

We're sorry to say that we didn't have a volunteer sign-in sheet so we can't individually recognize all the wonderful folk that came up to help. But you know who you are! And a special shout-out to all the kids and parents that came from the The Farm at Millstone Oaks to help out for the day. We couldn't have gotten all that work done without you, and we're so appreciative.

Couple of projects we checked off our to do list: speaker boxes stained, main arena fencing cleaned, signage installed, trails inspected and cleared, Food Booth-Registration Booth- Storage Shed all cleaned and organized, WHOLE bunch of junk thrown out in the dumpster we rented for the week, new storage shed organized and filled, and Confidence Course set up. WOWSER! WHAT A DAY!

"ANOTHER" Milestone Accomplished

The last couple of years have seen unprecedented progress at NEECA. At the beginning of 2022, the NEECA Board met to to decide what the short and long-term goals were for NEECA's continued development. It was determined that the installation of a Food Booth, followed by a well, were the two top priorities. We hoped to have them both done in 2-3 years. Once they were completed we planned to redo the footing in NEECA's warm-up ring since the current footing was too deep. We set a goal of having all of these relatively "big ticket" items completed within 5 years at the latest.

Well, fast forward barely 2 years later and we are beyond thrilled to report that all three of these goals have been accomplished, representing a $60,000 investment in NEECA's ongoing development! The new footing and gate were installed in the warm-up arena about 2 weeks ago (see pics above). All this was made possible by the fact that NEECA's event schedule and membership continues to grow and expand every year, helping to generate the funding needed for these important goals.

In addition to these major projects checked off our "to do" list, we were also able to increase the size of our driving arena, add obstacles to the Confidence Course, add speakers to the trailer parking driveway, install underground wiring to our existing speakers, and add new signage and trail markers.

We ended last year with a record setting 250 members, and we are on track to blow that number out of the water this year. We already have over 224 members signed up for 2024, and the most amazing thing of all is that 88 of them are BRAND NEW NEECA members, some of them from locations hours away! It looks like the good word is spreading fast now as people realize what a truly amazing organization and facility NEECA has become.

It can't be stated often enough that NEECA is an All-Volunteer organization and that everything that has been accomplished up there is due to the hard work and dedication of countless members over the years, representing thousands and thousands of volunteer hours. We are proud of our past accomplishments and look forward eagerly to what is yet to be!!
