Summer Reading Expectations

Summer is a wonderful time for students to explore their interests in reading beyond what's available on their phones and computers. Reading is an integral part of high school success, but too often students develop negative attitudes about reading when it becomes "required" or titles are "prescribed" from a list.

NDA English teachers suggest letting students select what they want to read this summer. Our expectation is that all NDA students reading 20 minutes daily is an easy suggestion. We encourage NDA families to discuss individual summer reading expectations in their own households. Upon returning to school in the fall, students will be asked to write about and discuss any book they have read over the summer.

If you have any questions or would like reading suggestions, please contact our NDA librarian, Katie Gelb at kgelb@notredameacademy.com or English Department Chair, Jean Thillman at jthillman@notredameacademy.com.

Service Hours 2023-24

Summer is a great time to start working on service hours. Sophomores can start working on the 15 hours required in social justice and juniors can start working on the 15 hours required in service. Don't forget to log them into x2Vol right away!
