LANCERS IN ACTION

Welcome home upperclassmen! After a fun summer - that admittedly flew by fast - our students are ready to hit the ground running with their studies. Here's to a successful year!

The Class of 2028 had a great day during Freshmen Orientation! Alongside their upperclassmen Link Leaders, students played icebreaker games, had a scavenger hunt across campus, and made new friends. We welcome all our new students to the ND Family!

The Class of 2028 had a great first day of classes! Link Leaders, faculty, and staff served as excellent guides for our newest Lancers.

Please give a warm welcome to another group joining the Lancer Family: our transfer students! Nearly 30 new students kicked off their journey with an orientation last Friday.

Starting high school is a significant time of transition for every student, but Notre Dame Prep eases our incoming freshmen into it! Students had the chance to meet faculty and peers, as well as gain skills needed for the start of school, by participating in our Summer Enrichment Program during the first two weeks of August. Students had the opportunity to take courses in Algebra, Study Skills, and Grammar/Writing.

Athlete and parent meetings recently took place for fall sports teams. We wish all our student-athletes a successful season! Let's go Lancers!

Orientation and the opening faculty meeting for the faculty and staff is in the books! Thanks to Sacred Heart University President Dr. John Petillo and his team for spending time with us and extending a warm welcome to the SHU community.

Notre Dame’s Horizons Summer Program has reached its sixth year of operation! Horizons is a transformational, community-centered program proven to close the opportunity gap and provide a safe and encouraging space for kids to explore their potential. Students acquire a joy of learning, the skills for success, and the inspiration to imagine and achieve their dreams.

134 students took part in this year’s program at ND. They showed incredible growth throughout their six weeks of learning, developing both academically and as individuals. The program also included swimming instruction, breakfast and lunch, field trips, recreation, arts, and an overall emphasis on family involvement. This year’s field trips included visits to SHU's Discovery Science Center & Planetarium, The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, Silverman's Farm, and the Connecticut Science Center, among others.

Every year, many Notre Dame students spend the summer volunteering in the Horizons program, supporting the teachers and students, which not only provides a great learning opportunity for the high school students, but also gives Horizons students mentors and role models.

The Horizons Summer Program will be returning next summer. We look forward to seeing all of the students continue to grow!
