Classroom Happenings:
Grandview Students recently wrote "My Holiday Wish" letters to support the Make a Wish Foundation. A.J. Silvestri, a 15 year old Old Bridge, NJ resident and Make a Wish recipient, charged New Jersey residents to write 250,000 letters about their holiday wishes-in return, Macy's would donate $1 per letter to the Make a Wish Foundation. We are so proud of our Grandview Students who contributed 305 letters toward A.J.'s campaign.
Pictured are some authentic examples of the beautiful wishes written by the students of
Mrs. Schechter and
Mrs. Shay's 3rd grade class and some photos of the students hard at work on their letters. Thank you Grandview students and teachers for participating in this wonderful segue into the holiday season!
Mrs. Schechter and
Mrs. Shay's third grade class worked with Mrs. Toth and Mrs. Tarantino's kindergarten class on The Marshmallow Challenge, a STEM project. Each kindergartner was partnered with a third grader. The partnerships had 20 minutes to build a tower out of only spaghetti and tape that would hold a marshmallow at the very top. The tallest tower wins. Sister and brother team, Ava and Nicholas Poveromo, won the challenge with their tower topping 11 inches. The two classes enjoyed problem solving together. Great work!
