University of Iowa Healthcare

Laurel Crusinberry is the Lead COPE Chaplain at the University of Iowa Health Care main campus. She leads a multi-disciplinary team of colleagues who provide support to staff after challenging events. Laurel is a retired family physician who became a hospital chaplain ten years ago. She did her undergraduate, medical school, and residency training at the University of Iowa and received her Master of Divinity degree from Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. After leaving medical practice, she has worked in various settings, including church ministry, community volunteer positions, and hospital and hospice care. Her husband is a retired physician, and they have four grown children and four grandchildren. Her hobbies include reading, gardening, and walking in addition to playing with her dogs and grandchildren.
