How Gender Impacts the Roles, Evolution, and Process of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV)

August 28, 2024

9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Presented by Mary-K O'Sullivan, LMFT, LADC, LPC

This training will utilize multiple case studies and scenarios to challenge classic and institutionalized definitions of domestic violence. In addition to the variety of behaviors that are defined as domestic abuse, domestic violence, and IPV, the focus will be on expanding upon the issue of gender and gender roles and their impact of “victim” versus “perpetrator” roles. In addition to variations based on the gender spectrum identification of the perpetrator and individual, other sociological “gender-related” special population affiliations will be explored regarding the prevalence of domestic abuse.
