SEC's July 16 Special Meeting of the Asset Management Advisory Committee to Focus on Diversity

Diversity and inclusion will be the focus of the July 16th virtual special meeting of the Securities and Exchange Commission's Asset Management Advisory Committee (AMAC).

Kicking off at 9:30 a.m., the topics of conversation will include how to improve diversity and inclusion in the asset management industry and other issues relating to diverse asset managers. AMAC was formed to provide the SEC with a range of perspectives on asset management and related advice and recommendations.

Leading the discussion will be Robert L. Greene, National Association of Investment Companies; Robert Raben, The Raben Group; Juan Martinez, Knight Foundation; Solange Brooks, New America Alliance; Ron Parker, National Association of Securities Professionals; Brenda Chia, Association of Asian American Investment Managers.

The meeting will be broadcast live on the SEC's website, www.sec.gov, and is open to the public.

Clearlake, Grain Management, Vista Among Private Equity Firms Creating 50 New Board Roles for Diverse Candidates

Ten private equity firms, including NAIC members Clearlake Capital, Grain Management and Vista Equity Partners, have come together to create 50 new board roles for diverse candidates to increase diversity on company boards of directors.

As part of the initiative, Diligent Corp., a provider of company governance software and a portfolio company of Clearlake and Insight Partners, will build a searchable database of diverse, board-ready executives who could be tapped to fill board vacancies. A partnership with the Spencer Stuart executive search firm will boost the visibility of board openings for diverse candidates, while agreements with Ascend, the Executive Leadership Council, the Latino Corporate Directors Association and the National Association of Corporate Directors will promote and create opportunities for their members.

Other firms committing to this effort include Aurora Capital Partners, Genstar Capital, Hellman & Friedman, Hg, Insight Partners, K1 Investment Management and TA Associates.

Grain Management Portfolio Company to Acquire Enhanced Telecommunications Corporation

Great Plains Communications (GPC), a Midwestern telecommunications provider with a privately-owned 11,500-plus mile fiber network touching 11 states, announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Enhanced Telecommunications Corporation (ETC), a Southeastern Indiana-based provider. ETC has five storefronts and provides voice, video, high-speed internet, and other communications services to more than 14,000 residential and business customers. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2020, following customary regulatory approvals. Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.


Carrick Capital Partners Acquires Flatiron School

Carrick Capital Partners has acquired 100% of the equity in Flatiron School from WeWork. Flatiron, a "boot camp" style technical training provider that offers programs in software engineering, data science, UX/UI design and cybersecurity. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Based in New York City, Flatiron School has graduated thousands of students since its founding in 2012.


Clearlake Capital Portfolio Company Acquires Weaver Lumber

American Construction Source, a leading national building materials distribution platform for custom home builders and repair and remodel contractors, announced the acquisition of Weaver Lumber. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Serving customers since 1963, Weaver Lumber offers lumber, hardware, cabinets, redwood, cedar fencing, decking, windows, doors, insulation, siding, and more. American Construction is backed by Angeles Equity Partners and Clearlake Capital Group.
