The nomination period for one of aviation's oldest and most prestigious awards, the NAA Collier Trophy, is now open through January 31. Founded in 1911 by aviator, humanitarian, and sportsman Robert J. Collier, the trophy is awarded annually "... for the greatest achievement in aeronautics or astronautics in America, with respect to improving the performance, efficiency, and safety of air or space vehicles, the value of which has been thoroughly demonstrated by actual use during the preceding year." The list of Collier winners represents a timeline of aviation and space, as many of the awardees mark major events in the history of flight. More information about the Collier Trophy criteria and nomination guidelines are available on the NAA website.

The Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) - the world air sports federation, for which NAA is the U.S. representative and founding member, will host a virtual award ceremony on December 2 at 2:00 p.m. ET to celebrate the women and men who will be awarded with FAI medals and diplomas. This year, 45 recipients will be honored for their outstanding contributions spanning a wide variety of the activities, sports, and disciplines within FAI. FAI President Bob Henderson said, “I invite everyone from all around the world to tune in with us to celebrate the people who played a major part in the world of air sports and beyond. The FAI Awards Ceremony is such an important fixture in our calendar that we were determined to organize it despite the pandemic. In a sense, it has been a chance to be creative and to present the FAI Awards in a fresh way.” The virtual awards ceremony can be viewed live on FAI's YouTube channel or Facebook page.
