NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale recently kicked off its 2018 Carnival season announcing its theme, Queen-Select, Grand Marshal, and new gala venue at its annual Reveal party, July 22, featuring national recording artist Mystikal, at Crystal Palace Reception Hall in Harvey, La.

Founded in 2013, the event also marked the group's upcoming fifth year as a krewe.

"I can't believe we're coming up on five years already," said President and Founder Gwendolyn V. Rainey. "We have worked really hard to reach this milestone and I'm excited to know that we are making an impact in this community that is much more than one parade, one day, once a year."

The most anticipated moment of the evening was the announcement of the 2018 MKFF Queen-Select when Mossville, Louisiana native Kimberly Prater McPherson was officially named. McPherson was inducted into MKFF in 2015 and served as a parade marshal for the krewe's inaugural ride. She is a graduate of Sulphur (LA) High School and attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La., where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics. She also holds a master's of social work from Southern University of New Orleans (2006).

	Ledisi

Following graduation, McPherson moved to New Orleans in 1991 and has been employed by the State of Louisiana for over 25 years with the Department of Children and Family Services. She is a child welfare consultant and worked with foster care children.

"I fell in love with New Orleans over 25 years ago," says McPherson. "The community, culture, history, and oneness displayed by this unique city have always resonated with me. The opportunity to represent the Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale speaks to all that lured me here."

McPherson is married to Isaac McPherson, Jr., and they have four children, J'Nae, Jordan, Landen, and Kelsey. She attends Franklin Avenue Baptist Church and serves in the children's ministry and volunteers with the marriage ministry. She is also a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

	Gee Tucker

MKFF is set to host its annual gala at a new venue, the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, on Friday, February 2, 2018, which will feature national recording artist and New Orleans native Ledisi, along with local artist Rochelle Cook and music by DJ Polo504. Radio personality Dino Hanson of KMEZ Old School 106.7 FM and MKFF's own Patrice Hopkins will serve as master and mistress of ceremonies, respectively.

The 2018 theme, 'MKFF Takes Broadway,' will feature floats reflecting a variety of Broadway productions. Leading the annual procession will be Grand Marshal Janee Michelle, also known as Gee Tucker, a New Orleans native, actress, model, dancer and businesswoman who reigned as a Mardi Gras queen in 1977. The ladies will bring Broadway to the streets of New Orleans in its fourth annual parade on Sunday, February 4, 2018, at 11 a.m., along the traditional Uptown route. The coveted signature mirrored compact will be the featured throw, along with an assortment of new throws and plush toys, annual theme beads, and footballs as the National Football League Super Bowl game will be played later that day.

Established in 2013, the Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale features over 600 members. Its mission is to offer women of all creeds and colors a unique opportunity to promote and support New Orleans' cultural landscape through participation in the annual Mardi Gras season, while uplifting the community through various endeavors of engagement, awareness and social enhancement in order to further the growth of the organization. It was formed for social purposes, to establish between its members ties of friendship, sociability and esteem, for the promotion of good fellowship.
