" Rockers In Recovery® brings the private treatment sector, addiction education, and the addiction advocacy non-profit sector together in a unique way as no one else is doing anywhere in the United States. What makes RIR unique, the message is all around and through the universal language of music with some great rockers of our day. They combine it with educational speakers and advocacy groups. Music and Self Expression - Helping Addicts In Recovery
 |
|
 |
Little Creek Lodge - Drummer Andy Pace |
Since 2008 Little Creek Lodge using
music and self expression to spark the creative process without the use of drugs or alcohol is a very important step in early recovery. Re-starting the imagination takes internal motivation, work, and coaching.
The man behind the vision,
Drummer and Founder Andy Pace - His musical career began in the storied clubs of downtown New York City. As a teenager, he picked up small gigs at local hangouts like Cafe Wah and CBGB's. Soon thereafter, he landed job as the house drummer for the original Copa Cabana, where he worked alongside Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes, Tony Orlando, The Cornelius Brothers, and many other great R&B acts of the era. His journey as an artist and creative spirit had only just begun.
Discussion and encouragement are needed to begin the process of playing or writing music. One of the by-products of addiction is poor self-expression. Coming out of this thought pattern is difficult. Playing music in a healthy environment is a new experience, and practicing self-expression while allowing thoughts to flow freely without fear can feel quite foreign at first.
When a resident is ready to record a project we call in an engineer who guides resident in the recording process. The prospect of editing, mixing, and mastering a piece of music is really exciting for residents. We try to create one CD per year that is devoted to the writings of the residents. The process helps to provide feelings of accomplishment. There is great satisfaction found in the experience of completing a task from beginning to end, and residents take pride in their successes.

Rockers In Recovery Cafes®

CEO - Nick Colangelo

Rockers In Recovery Cafes is proud to announce the development of the FIRST Café location in Buffalo, New York!
Dave K. of Buffalo has been one of our strongest supporters since we first developed the RIR Cafes concept. Dave has been actively communicating with our President, Dr. Nick Colangelo, working out details and bouncing ideas off of him. As a result, Dave has secured the use of a space in The Hope Center in Buffalo.
This space is well-appointed for a Café operation and already has recovery meetings in the same building. With high-top tables, booth seating, stage location, and kitchen/coffee bar area already present, this will be a quick turn-key opening. We will keep you informed of all the updates regarding the Grand Opening of this Rockers In Recovery Café and the many more we know will soon be following.
Owned by independent licencee's, the brick and mortar establishments are going to be a place where people can go to fellowship and Rock-N-Roll over a cup of coffee, or to get educational information to help a loved one. This is all happening while listening to RIR Radio or watching RIR UStream concert/festival productions in real time. Just like Starbucks, but now the recovery community will have its own. The cool part of each independent RIR Cafe is, they do their own unique special events weekly in their area. Find Out More Here
