How Music is My Outlet - Student Alum José

In recognition of Poverty Awareness Month, ETM-LA Student Alum José shares how his exposure to music helped him through challenging and uncertain times.

"It was hard to see my mom struggle with trying her absolute hardest to supply for me and give me every opportunity possible to grow...music gives me a way to think that things will turn out better than the current situation," shares José. We believe every child, regardless of their socio-economic circumstance, has the right to access high-quality music education every year in school.

Winter Training Sparks Innovation

Music teachers, interns, and practitioners gathered for two intensive days of professional development as part of ETM-LA's Annual Winter Academy. Educators prepared for the upcoming semester and explored innovative activities - sparking inspiration and furthering culturally responsive methods for the music classroom. 


Thank you to Kerri Lynn Nichols for leading“The Body, the Voice, the Drum”: Awakening Creativity in the Orff Classroom. Teaching Orff-Schulwerk for over 35 years, she has presented conferences across the globe.
