ACTIVE LISTENING

Please note, as the choir sings, this is a time to:

  • BE STILL (OR – tap a foot, move to the beat, even CLAP – if it’s a lively one!)
  • Listen to your breathing as you listen and focus to the sounds washing over you
  • Be prepared for God, the Holy Spirit to show up - speak to your heart, your mind, your spirit thru the music

Offertory: Jesus Christ is Lord  J. Bertalot (b.1931)

The Word was spoken and the heavens were made, and all the foundations of the earth were laid. Then Adam's sin made us forlorn, so God sent the Word, and the Word was born.

(Refrain:) Jesus, the Word of life for me; Jesus, my Lord and my God is he; for he has a name to be adored, every tongue shall confess "Jesus Christ is Lord."

I came to my people and they knew me not, so I went to those whom the Pharisees forgot. The publicans and sinners came to eat with me. They quenched their thirst for eternity for all to see. (Refrain)

I broke the bread and I gave the wine. The soldiers took me, for Judas gave the sign. The King of the Jews hung high on a tree. "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

On Easter day I rose again, I gave new life in abundance unto men; I went to heaven and the Spirit came, my church was born in tongues of flame. (Refrain)
