It’s summertime and the surf is up! From June 23rd — September 16 our special summer exhibit,
Making Waves
,
will showcase Myrtle Beach native and world-renowned surf artist, Drew Brophy. We are thrilled to have this retrospective collection of Drew’s work in his hometown. Come join us and meet Drew on Saturday, June 23rd, from 11 am - 3 pm, when we will hold a festival celebrating the opening of the exhibit with food, art, surf vendors, demonstrations and more.
Drew changed surf art with his technique of using Uni Posca water-based paint pens. His bright colors and unique style captured the world. The exhibiton includes beginning works to his most recent fine art, “Sacred Geometry.” Drew says,”Feeling the heartbeat of the planet, the wind, the waves, the heat of the sun; all makes me feel connected to the universe.”
The Museum also has more wonderful exhibitions to look forward to. Also on display this summer is
The
Water’s Fine,
a beautiful collection of paintings and black-and-white photography. In the fall, you won’t want to miss photographer Easton Selby’s
Rootworks
and Sherry Srickland Martin’s watercolor exhibition,
Roots Run Deep.
Educational opportunities abound. We now offer pottery classes in addition to water-color classes, KidArt Camps, an art resource library and more. All are waiting for you.
