TOP TEN REASONS WHY I LOVE MY AUDI E-TRON!
Prelude: Just a little bit of history. Since the birth of Mrs. Green's World almost 10 years ago, the
Chapman Automotive Group
in Tucson, Arizona, has been a major champion, partner, and supporter of the MGW mission and vision. Together we have accomplished some pretty amazing things and at some point, I will dedicate an entire newsletter to the Chapman Community Green Team to showcase their accomplishments and to illustrate the difference one company can make - for the environment and the community. But for this newsletter, I want the words to jump off the page about the new Mrs. Green mobile - courtesy of the Chapman Automotive group. Meet my Audi A3 Sportback e-tron. (And I do wish there had been a video capturing the look on my face and my reaction when the Chapman GM told me that the e-tron was to be the new Mrs. Green mobile. That video might have gone viral.)
Top Ten Reasons Why I LOVE my Audi A3 e-tron
#1 It's an Audi for heaven's sake!
#2 It's a hybrid that I literally plug into the wall in my garage when I get home. How cool is that?
#3 The tagline for the car is "Driving change toward better sustainability." No kidding!
#4 The EPA- rated MPGe (Miles per gallon equivalent) 83-86 MPGe. Car and Driver puts it lower than that but says it still beats the BMWi3, the Chevrolet Volt and the Ford-C Max Energi.
This is what I know - except for long trips, I get gas about every two weeks (and I'm on the road a lot!) It IS fuel efficient.
#5 Surprisingly, the hatchback has quite a bit of room.
#6 It has elegant lines, high-quality materials and a practicality about it - all rolled into one beautiful car. Translation? I simply love how it looks and feels.
#7 It has a sun roof that really makes me smile - especially when Mr. Green is driving at night and I can enjoy the moon and the stars and the fresh air!
#8 It has heated seats that I have been known to put on even when it's 70 degrees outside. It just feels good.
#9
My e-tron is wrapped from bumper to bumper letting the world know that Mrs. Green is in the hood and proudly showcasing my amazing partnership with Chapman. Just one more example of Chapman doing their sharing, showing they care.
#10 Rumor has it that you can go 103 MPH on the Interstate between Tucson and Phoenix and it only feels like 75. "Sorry, Officer, but I thought I was only going 75." But what would this law- abiding citizen know about that?
Call to action? If I have piqued your curiosity and you want to know more, here is a great, substantive, in-depth review. And do I need to add that if you are considering buying one, support a philanthropic, wildly successful and environmentally conscious company - the Chapman Automotive Group? Probably not.
AT THE CORE
For folks living in Tucson and the surrounding area, I want to share that Mrs. Green will be presenting at The CORE at La Encantada on January 22nd at 2:00P and I would love to see lots of familiar faces. Sustainability and Fashion: The Filthy Truth with Mrs. Green is the title of my presentation. The clothing industry is reportedly one of the world's largest polluters. Have you ever wondered what happens during the production, manufacturing and ultimately the disposal of the garments you purchase for you and your family? Join me for an interactive presentation highlighting the complexities of the clothing industry including the obvious pollutants, the extravagant amount of natural resources being used for fashion, and how YOU can make small changes to help you be more sustainable with your clothing choices. Space is limited, reserve your spot now.
DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that Beachfleischman (BFC) is one of the largest LOCALLY-OWNED CPA firms in Arizona and a Top 200 firm in the entire United States? And did you know that they regularly publish a blog covering a wide range of topics including everything from Key Tax Deadlines for Businesses to Simple Stress Relievers for the Holidays? And I am just about 100% certain that you did not know that one of their founding partners, Dave Iaconis, has been a mentor, a patient teacher (and I mean VERY patient teacher) and a dear friend to me for over 20 years? Well, now you know!

UPCOMING SHOWS
Calley O'Neill
In the summer of 2006, while on vacation in Seattle with her two teenaged children, Leianna and Noa, Calley O'Neill took her children to the zoo for the first time. She was moved and inspired by the Woodland Park Zoo, opening her mind to what zoos could be. Calley had been strongly drawn to visit Portland, because of its global reputation as a model green city. On their weekend trip to Portland, they visited the Oregon Zoo, arriving at the elephant barn at the exact moment when Rama began his Sunday painting demonstration with keeper Jeb Barsh. As soon as Rama started painting, Calley was overwhelmed by a vision of an international travelling exhibition on endangered species that would reach millions of people. She knew in her bones that she had to work with him! And so she did and so began the Rama Exhibition - an epic journey of art and soul for the earth. Join us to hear about this spectacular, amazing and compelling journey from one incredible and amazing human being. This show made possible due to the generous support of

BEST OF SHOW: Trash is for Tossers!
Lauren Singer,
Founder & Waste Free Planet Preserver
Meet Lauren Singer - she lives a zero waste life in New York City of all places. Two transformative moments/events showed up in Lauren's life. The first was in her senior year of college when one of her professors emphasized the importance of living ones values and it made her think about her own personal commitment to the environment. The second was when she noticed that a fellow environmental studies major would bring lunch to class every week in a single use plastic bag, a disposable water bottle and a takeout container. She would think - we are supposed to be the future of this planet and here we are with our trash - messing it up. Lauren says "Then I learned about this family in California, calling themselves the Zero Waste Home, that was producing little to no garbage, it was this "Aha!" moment for me. I wanted to lessen my impact, so I started my Zero Waste journey. This is when I really decided that I not only needed to claim to love the environment, but actually live like I love the environment." Take it from there Lauren! And so she did! Lauren will share just what she has done to live like she loves the environment. I can't wait to hear her share her story. It's a good one. This show made possible due to the generous support of the

Meet a Renovation Angel
This show and story are all about one person's incredible and very compelling story. Why did Steve Feldman
start Green Demolitions and then Renovation Angel? Because he wanted to "give back" after his life was given back to him. He is a recovered addict whose life was saved 27 years ago through an addiction recovery program. He was a teenage drug and alcohol abuser raised in Poughkeepsie, New York and suffered two bouts of serious suicidal depression before he got his recovery. And give back he has. Renovation Angel. Simply put, Renovation Angel provides professional luxury kitchen removal and effortless recycling. If your kitchen qualifies as a luxury kitchen, Renovation Angel provides you with the entire upside: full tax deduction & savings, professional insured removal, packing & transport and disposal cost savings! The "goods" are then recycled and sold to homeowners from all over the world. Talk about the Green Trifecta! Living from the Heart
Emmanuel Dagher
Emmanuel Dagher has become recognized as a global Humanitarian, Spiritual Healer, Teacher and Multi Best-selling Author who truly walks the talk when it comes to living from the heart. Emmanuel's early challenges of growing up in the war-torn country of Lebanon have helped him develop a level of compassion and awareness that heals those who enter his space. Emmanuel's ultimate desire is to remind everyone he meets of the wholeness that resides within every cell of their being; leading them back to the happy, rich and fulfilling life they desire most of themselves. Emmanuel has quickly come on the world stage through his wisdom, healing gifts and humanitarian work, giving him the opportunity to present and facilitate global healing at the United Nations in New York City where the heart of global diplomacy occurs, at the World Congress, Consulates, and other international events that promote world peace and healing. I had the honor and privilege of meeting this amazing human being at the United Nations this past spring. And once again, I could not wait to share him and his message with everyone in the MGW tribe. Tune in to hear about hope, possibility and change. This show made possible due to the generous support of the Chapman Automotive Group.

The Soul of an Octopus
To research books, films and articles, Sy Montgomery has been chased by an angry silverback gorilla in Zaire and bitten by a vampire bat in Costa Rica, worked in a pit crawling with 18,000 snakes in Manitoba and handled a wild tarantula in French Guiana. She has been deftly undressed by an orangutan in Borneo, hunted by a tiger in India, and swum with piranhas, electric eels and dolphins in the Amazon. She has searched the Altai Mountains of Mongolia's Gobi for snow leopards, hiked into the trackless cloud forest of Papua New Guinea to radio collar tree kangaroos, and learned to SCUBA dive in order to commune with octopuses. We will touch on lots of Sy's excellent adventures but will "go deeper" asking Sy to share with us highlights from her best-selling book, The Soul of an Octopus - which explores the emotional and physical world of the octopus-a surprisingly complex, intelligent, and spirited creature-and the remarkable connections it makes with humans. This show made possible due to the generous support of The Fairfax Companies.
(Personal comment from Mrs. Green - I would like to dedicate this show to my dear friend Rafe Sagarin, author of Learning from the Octopus. Rafe was a professor at the University of Arizona and was tragically killed in Tucson, Arizona on May 28th, 2015. His legacy lives on in the hearts of many.

Making Contact: New Approaches to Cracking the Communications of Dolphins and Whales
James Nestor, author and journalist
James is a journalist with a passion for extreme adventure who has written for Scientific American, National Public Radio and The New York Times, draws from his mind-boggling, multiple award-winning new book, DEEP: Freediving, Renegade Science, and What the Ocean Tells Us about Ourselves. He'll describe how groups of athletes and scientists plumbed ocean depths, and researchers collaborating with engineers from Apple, Google and elsewhere worked to "crack" the cetacean language code and send back messages to these giant marine mammals - to make contact. Their weird and wondrous new discoveries might just redefine our understanding of the ocean, and of ourselves. Another amazing guest with unbelievable experiences to share with us. All Aboard: The Goal of Mayor Jim Brainard
Jim is the six-term GOP Mayor of Carmel, Indiana (same state as Mike Pence.) He was one of only four Republicans on a Presidential task force on climate change. Although Jim argues that conservation has long been a core Republican value - the root word of conservative being "conserve" - he's arguably more of a "rogue elephant" in this arena now more than ever before. But he remains a strong believer in the cause, and his willingness to speak out could embolden other Republicans who care about conservation. There are many of them. This is such an important show for me personally because it is all about finding common ground with people from both political parties who understand and who are willing to stand up and be counted about the most critical issue facing our planet today: climate change. Please plan to listen and be inspired. This show made possible due to the generous support of the Chapman Automotive Group.

Biomimicry: Imitating Nature
I admit that I first became aware of biomimicry at the Cultivating Women's Leadership Conference I attended in July of last year. So what is it and why is it so vitally important that more and more of us know and understand just what Biomimicry is and its significant value to citizens of this planet? In short,
Biomimicry
is an approach to innovation that seeks sustainable solutions to human challenges by emulating nature's time-tested patterns and strategies. The goal is to create products, processes, and policies - new ways of living - that are well-adapted to life on earth over the long haul. Translation? Learning from nature.
Biomimicry 3.8 is the global leader in biomimicry innovation consulting and professional training, helping innovation leaders, designers, business and sustainability leaders, to solve human problems with biological intelligence and brilliance of nature's designs.
How do they do it? By accessing the powerful intelligence embedded in 3.8 billion years of evolution, Biomimicry 3.8 has collaborated with innovation teams and individuals at more than 250 companies to achieve competitive advantages through biomimicry. Their consulting staff of biologists, chemists, and designers work with innovation and design teams to zero in on the relevant biological intelligence and unpack nature's proven processes and structures to inspire new solutions for the world's challenges. Talk about improving our Environmental IQ - bring it on! This show made possible due to the generous support of the Chapman Automotive Group.

The Least Deadly Catch: Ocean Farming in 3D
Bren Smith, owner of Thimble Island Ocean Farm and Executive Director of GreenWave
When I heard Bren Smith present at Bioneers 2016 last October, I literally jumped up from my seat to get to the line forming of people who wanted to talk to Bren. My mission? Get him on the MGW show. His is AMAZING, fun, funny, inspiring and brilliant. A lifelong commercial fisherman since age 14, Bren has pioneered "restorative 3D ocean farming" to restore ecosystems, mitigate climate change, create blue-green jobs for fishermen, and ensure healthy food for communities. From a very young age, Bren witnessed the destruction of the ocean firsthand. In a quest for a better way, he pioneered a revolutionary new model of harvesting bounty from the seas. Join us to hear Bren's story including his future vision for restorative 3-D ocean farming. To me Bren is the Triple Bottom Line (People, Plant, Profit) all wrapped up in one human being with a very big heart. Please join us.
