Interview with Rep. Frank Hornstein
“Even if you just commute a few days a week. You’re saving yourself money, you’re saving yourself stress, you’re doing something very positive for the climate because transportation is the number one source of greenhouse gas emissions. For all these reasons and more, I think a care-free car-free lifestyle, is the one to pursue.”
Rep. Frank Hornstein, chair of the state’s Transportation Finance and Policy Committee, joined Move Minneapolis for an interview at his Linden Hills bus stop on the 6 line. Learn about the stress relief and financial savings of his journey going car free! Continue listening to hear his perspective on a few of the many transportation conversations going on today.

Give Feedback on the METRO E Line Plan
Share your voice on Metro Transit's plans for the METRO E Line - bus rapid transit (BRT) line that will provide faster and more reliable transit service in the Route 6 corridor along University Avenue/4th Street, Hennepin Avenue, and France Avenue from the University of Minnesota to Southdale. The plan outlines the route buses will follow and identifies where stops and stations will be placed. The comments that are being gathered through April 8th could shape the outcome for the 13 mile-long, $60 million project before it goes before the Met Council for final approval later this spring.

Spring is here, which means the kick-off to one of our favorite annual traditions is right around the bend: 30 Days of Biking! This month-long initiative began in the Twin Cities in 2010 and has now spread around the world. The idea is simple: pledge to get on a bike every day in April - whether commuting to work, riding trails with friends, or just around the block. The effects are powerful: inspiration, freedom, gratitude, joy, and triumph. Share your adventures online using the hashtag #30daysofbiking and join a global “community of joyful cyclists”.
Committing to an action or activity (like biking) for 30 days in a row can lead to the formation of a new habit. If you make it the whole month, you may find yourself continuing to bike regularly long after April ends. If you’re interested in learning more about habit formation and behavior change, stay tuned for the next Move Minneapolis webinar, coming up in April!

Biking is making a resurgence in recent years fueled, in part, by the soaring interest in e-bikes. Advances in e-bike technology have expanded biking to a wider audience and improved accessibility. The E-Bike Challenge is an expo at the Minneapolis Convention Center that showcases e-bikes and promotes biking.
E-bikes take bike commuting and recreational riding to a new level. The electric-assist motors make for effortless riding and extended range. For people who gave up riding years ago, e-bikes offer a way to get back to the trails. The electric boost allows for more options hauling cargo, kids, or groceries. E-bikes are a sustainable, healthy, and fun mode of transportation.
Returning to the Minneapolis Convention Center on April 2 - 3, the E-Bike Challenge features a variety of manufacturers and models. Talk to specialists about which e-bike fits your needs, try out e-bikes on an indoor test track, and buy them directly from retailers. Take part in biking workshops, presentations, and a kids activity area.

Upcoming Transportation Impacts from 3rd Ave/15th St Sewer Project
This spring, the City of Minneapolis will begin a major, year‐long construction project on a sanitary sewer line deep beneath Third Avenue South near the Minneapolis Convention Center.
The sidewalk and bike lane on the West side of 3rd Avenue are anticipated to remain open, with the potential of an expansion of the current one-way bike lane to a two-way bike lane. A bike detour utilizing Nicollet Mall/Nicollet Avenue and East 15th Street/East 16th Street has been planned in case of necessary bike lane closures. Motor vehicle traffic will be maintained in each direction, and no bus detours are currently planned. Work is expected to commence at the beginning of April.
