The Messenger - February 2023

Annual Meeting This Sunday

The Annual Meeting will be held this Sunday, February 12th, 2023. After service, a potluck lunch will be held prior to the AGM.

The Leadership Team will be sharing the Community of Faith: Living Faith Story (LFS) for Mount Forest United Church and Woodland United Church and the Definition of Current Ministry. Both of these items will need to be approved at the meeting. These two documents along with a Financial Review Report and a Special Report on the Draft Budget for 2023 have been posted to our website There is a tab at the top of the webpage Transition Team and AGM, click on this and it will take you to the page with the links for the other documents. We ask that you read them before the Annual Meeting. Hope to see everyone there.

Don't Miss the Deadline to order your TURKEY POT PIES!

The Mission and Services Committee will once again sell individual turkey pot pies. We will be making them in mid-February and they will have a top pastry, for $6.00 each. Pre-orders are a prerequisite; all orders must be placed by February 11th. Please call Virginia Byers at 519 323 2225, if you want to place an order. If there is no answer, please leave a message. The exact date for pickup for these unfrozen pies will be announced in the future.

A Big Thank You!

The Mount Forest Christmas Bureau would like to express deep gratitude for the help you gave us once again, in providing generous hampers to many local individuals and families.

The generosity of our community remains remarkable. This year, with food insecurity being such a huge worry for families already struggling, the Christmas Bureau changed its focus to prioritize food. With the help of the Den class at WHSS and the Mount Forest Firefighters, pre-made bags of Christmas groceries for the hampers were quickly sold out at our Stuff-a-Firetruck event at Peter's No Frills. Turkey sponsorships, toy/game drives, food drives, and fundraising challenges were well supported. Monetary donations to purchase grocery gift cards were plentiful, from individuals, businesses as well as service groups.

We still had Angel Trees, so each child was able also to receive personalized toys. As always, the response was overwhelming! We are so fortunate to have the support of the Eco Den and Young's Home Hardware to host Angel Trees.

Along with gifts for the kids, our hampers this year provided turkey and all the trimmings, potatoes, eggs, clementines and treats, as well as toiletries, and very generous gift cards to our local grocery stores.

Distribution day went smoothly; our small crew had it down to a fine art! All the hampers were delivered, or picked up from Victory Community Centre (the perfect facility to make this possible), by 12:30.

Because of this community’s amazing donations and support, we were able to provide a fulfilling Christmas to those in need. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Thanks again for being a part of this.
