Meet Your Makers

Mother fo Care

Owner: Jennifer Jackson

Location: Spicewood, TX

Q: What’s in the name?

A: My nickname has always been “Fo,” and my family and friends were joking around one day, talking about my products and how they are eco-friendly and relate to Mother Earth, and it kind of spiraled into laughter from there.

Q: Um, why is your nickname “Fo?”

A: People have been calling me “J-Fo” since I was three years old.

Q: Tell us about what you bring.

A: Skin-care products that use organic tallow, such as body butter, deodorant, lip balm, and sunscreen, as well as rainwater and olive oil soap, and all-natural household products, including laundry and dishwasher detergents. Everything comes in glass or biodegradable packaging and none of it uses seed oils.

Q: How long have you been at DSFM?

A: Hmmm… Maybe December? January? About three, four months now.

Q: This isn’t your full-time job, is it? Can you tell us what you do during the week?

A: I’m a high-level junior/pro tennis player. My days are filled with tennis and working out, and I travel a lot for events, which is why I can’t make it to market every week (sorry!).

Q: How long have you been producing?

A: I’ve been making them for about a year and a half, but only selling for five months.

Q: What do customers like most?

A: People are usually intrigued by the name at first, and then amazed by the effectiveness and simpleness of the products.

Q: What got you into it? What keeps you in it?

A: I originally made the body butter for eczema that I had and was amazed that it completely cured it.

I love helping people get toxic products out of their lives and introducing tallow and other natural products, and showing how effective they can be.

Q: What other markets can you be found at?

A: Pedernales in Spicewood on Sundays. Folks can also order online – use the code “DripShip” when ordering for free shipping!

Think Local

This is for the folks who said they used to read my newsletter essays in their reading groups. I eased off those essays a while back, but just had to write some thoughts down over the weekend. Click here if you might be interested in a few thoughts on how thinking locally might be more important than thinking globally. Thanks for reading!

Sights and Scenes from Last Week's Markets

Before the start of last week's market, a representative from The Daughters of the American Revolution stopped at market to present pins to Jimmy, Johnny, and Marcia Tolly. The gesture was an expression of gratitude for their service and sacrifices in Vietnam. It was a beautiful moment to kick off a beautiful market. Thank you to the Tolly Trio!
