From the Diocese of Southern Ohio:

Draft Diocesan Mission Statement Now Available for Feedback

July 23, 2024

Last week, Bishop White and a working group of diocesan leaders met at Procter to create a draft of a diocesan mission statement, values and priority areas for ministry. The draft is available on the website, and the bishop invites all members of the diocese to review it and submit their feedback and questions using this form.

The draft mission is based on the results of 28 discernment gatherings facilitated by Ministry Architects in May and June.

“Our effort to follow Jesus with greater clarity and alignment in the Diocese of Southern Ohio continues to move forward,” Bishop White said. “Once our mission is clear, we will discern how best to align our leadership bodies, initiatives, staff and resources to support it.”

This week, the bishop is naming an implementation team of diocesan staff and leaders, which will be chaired by Spencer Izor of St. Paul’s, Oakwood, and Renée Wilson, a Ministry Architects consultant. The team, which will serve for 18 months, will assist the bishop by using input from people across the diocese to refine the mission and by helping our diocese put that mission into action.

In the months ahead, the implementation team will ask people in the diocese to provide responses to the draft mission in both in-person and online conversations. The conversations will include these questions, which can also be answered using the online form:

  • How does the mission resonate for you?
  • Can you envision this mission supporting your own life of faith, the ministries of your congregation, and the wider diocese? How?
  • What questions do you have?
  • What do you think is missing?

This Sunday, July 28, Bishop White will facilitate the first of these conversations after worship at St. Andrew’s, Evanston. The implementation team will be responsible for holding conversations in August, September, and October, with the goal of establishing our shared mission at diocesan convention in November.

To ask questions or express an interest in participating in a mission feedback discussion, please email mission@diosohio.org.

Trinity's Financial Snapshot

June 2024

In our ongoing effort to share monthly details about Trinity's finances, please review the financial snapshot below, which is as of the end of June. We hope to keep you informed on a more regular basis on where we stand with meeting our financial obligations and managing our current deficit.

Financial Report Ending June 30, 2024:

Income May Actual: $6,790

Income Budgeted Monthly: $12,821

Income Year to Date: $100,378

Income Budgeted YTD: $112,810

Deficit for 2024: $21,140

Deficit for 2022/2023: $12,266

Remember, some of our income for 2024 is going to our deficit from 2022/2023.

Please add this prayer for the financial health of Trinity to your daily devotions:

Gracious God and Father of all, we know that all comes from you and that you call us to build communities of faith and love in your name. At Trinity, you have given us beautiful facilities for worship and ministry, and have raised up ministries that build up our faith and serve the wider community. We pray that you will make clear to us ways to stabilize our parish finances so that we may continue the good work you have begun in us. We ask this in the name of Christ, the one who gives us abundant life. Amen.

Update: Pill Bottle Collection for

Matthew 25 Ministries

For many years, Trinity has collected empty plastic pill bottles for donation to Matthew 25 Ministries. They are used in shipments of medical supplies.

Matthew 25 Ministries has now changed the requirements for these donations. Previously, labels could be left on the donated bottles, but now labels (and any glue residue) must be removed from the bottles.

If you donate pill bottles to Trinity's collection bin, they must meet the following guidelines:

Acceptable collection items include:

  • Prescription and over-the-counter pill bottles
  • Large and small pill bottles
  • Pill bottles with and without secure caps (child-resistant)

Pill bottle donations should adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Bottles included in shipments of medical supplies must have an all plastic lid.
  • Bottles should be sorted by color and type.
  • All labels should be removed, leaving no glue or residue.
  • All bottles and lids should be washed in very hot water and dish soap, rinsed, and dried thoroughly.
  • Caps should be placed back onto clean, dried bottles.
  • Clean, recapped bottles should be placed into large resealable bags marked “Clean Bottles.” These will be included in shipments of medical supplies.

Due to these changes, in August our Vestry will discuss whether or not to continue with pill bottle collection and donation at Trinity.

From the Diocese of Southern Ohio:

Become a Leader in the Diocese

July 9, 2024

Nominations are now open for leadership positions that will be elected by diocesan convention in November. As we continue developing a shared mission, we need the participation of leaders who are broadly representative of all voices, regions, and perspectives. Advances in technology have made it possible for people from across the diocese to serve without the time and expense of traveling frequently to meetings. If you have never served on a diocesan-wide body before, please prayerfully consider if God may be calling you to lead God's church in this new way.

The list of positions to be elected can be found here. Elections will take place at the 150th annual convention November 22-23 at the Roberts Centre in Wilmington.

How do I run?

Self-nomination is encouraged. If you find a position for which you would be interested in running, please fill out the nomination form here

The nominations deadline set forth in the Rules of Order is November 8, but the Nominating Committee asks for nomination forms to be submitted before October 9. Nominees will be expected to attend (virtually) the Nominee Forum to be held during the Pre-Convention Meeting on Thursday, November 14 at 6:30 p.m.

If you have questions about any of the positions or the nomination process, please contact Nominating Committee Chair Jon Boss at jbboss@fuse.net.

The altar flowers for Sunday, July 28th

are given by Teresa and Mark Durbin

in honor of Emily Durbin's birthday.

purple-yellow-flowers.jpg

Sign Up to Donate Altar Flowers

Dates in August (except 8/4) and September are available.

If you would like to provide the altar flowers for a Sunday service, please contact Sue Samoviski at 513-478-8918 or suesamo63@gmail.com to reserve a date(s).

You may choose to call a florist to order the flowers, or you can purchase the flowers at the grocery store and make two arrangements for the altar. Or, you could provide flowers from your garden or potted plants.

Clear plastic vases are available at church if you need them or you can arrange them directly into the altar vases.

Another option is to send a monetary donation to Trinity in lieu of flowers and in memory of or in honor of your loved ones.

If you do that, please be sure to let Sue know the

dedication of your donation.

Collect: O God, the protector of all that trust in thee, without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy: Increase and multiply upon us thy mercy; that, thou being our ruler and guide, we may so pass through things temporal, that we finally lose not the things eternal. through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holly Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.  Amen.
