Summary of Witness Breakthrough Session #1-
1/31/2018 Big Canoe Chapel
At last…
af
ter much praying and planning the long-awaited Witness Breakthrough Training got underway with 36 enthusiastic participants meeting in McCormick Hall.
Wyatt Wood opened our time together with a
prayer of thanksgiving
, which also acknowledged the many ways God has prepared us for this study; individually and as members of the Body of Christ at Big Canoe.
Ted welcomed everyone and lost no time in getting right into the study. We viewed a
powerful video overview
filmed at Church of the Apostles, a sister church in Atlanta which has a long-standing partnership with Witness Breakthrough. Their excitement in sharing the many ways this study has changed their lives and their ch urch was bothinspiring and challenging.
Ted then shared his
“One Minute Testimony”
showing us how we can concisely present an overview of our relationship with God in Christ in a compelling way by focusing on:
·
What our life was like before we met Christ
· How we met Christ
· How our life has been different in our relationship with Christ
We then reviewed the
Witness Breakthrough goals
, listed in the introduction pages of the book, “If We Are the Light, Why is America so Dark?” Please read this section carefully and prayerfully a few more times this week to have a solid understanding of where we are going together and what your personal expectations are for this study.
Ted emphasized the central themes of Witness Breakthrough:
- Sharing the gospel without love (agape) can potentially make us just a noisy gong or clanging cymbal
- We are learning to frame meaningful questions and LISTEN to people carefully and intentionally
- If we are compelled by love, and not duty, to share our faith we will experience God’s power
- As we seek to be intentional about sharing our faith we become part of God’s team and part of His plan and process to draw all men unto Himself (John 12:32)
- The simple, but powerful; truth of John 3:16 brings clarity and focus to our interactions with others. That’s the message of the wristband too: “I am a sinner…Jesus Christ is my Savior”...
