Moss Point is home for a festive May

After a very popular First Friday in April, this coming First Friday is also positioned to be a big hit!

The Riverfront will be humming with activity all weekend as live music by Jen and Tonic headlines a jam-packed weekend of family fun in downtown Moss Point.

May 18-19--2024 Smokin' the River City Drag Boat Races at Riverfront Park

June 7--"Homecoming Edition" First Friday on the River featuring Coastal Collective, 5 to 9 p.m. at Riverfront Park

July 5--"Patriotic Edition" First Friday on the River featuring South Harlston

River Jamboree features pets, patriots and more!

River Jamboree will have a little something for everyone this year, from the tiniest tot to the valiant veteran and the celebrated Centenarian with petting zoos, boat rides, patriotic flyover and classic cars. The Moss Point Parks and Recreation Department has an exciting lineup of events and activities that are FREE and fun for the whole family. Planned Events Close Launch

Due to scheduled First Friday events and preparation for River Jamboree, the downtown boat launch will be closed Friday and Saturday, May 3 and 4.

Plan ahead because the launch will close again Friday through Sunday, May 17 to 19 for the drag boat races.

The People Have Spoken...it was all GREAT

The 3rd Annual Grillin' the River City pit grill masters against one another and guests came out the winners.

Pulled pork, chicken and ribs, and a little something special from the waterways, created a feast and lots of fun.

Thanks to all the grill teams for your time and talent that left our mouths watering for more.

Drag Boat Races Return May 18 and 19

Drag Boat Racing in Moss Point has been enjoyed for many generations, and the tradition continues. The 3rd Annual Smokin' the River City is set to launch May 18 and 19 at Moss Point's downtown riverfront park.

Make plans to be part of the fun daily 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and begin making your own memories. Local cuisine and merchandise vendors will be available all weekend.

The event will kickoff with live entertainment by "The Automatics" at a special edition of Waterfront Cafe on Friday, May 17, where guests can visit with boat captains and get an up-close look at these speedboats.

Special thanks to Vice Construction for donating a crane and operator for the weekend in the pit for weigh-in and inspection for the races.

Make plans now to visit Moss Point's Riverfront Park for this exciting annual event.

Moss Point Captain is Making Big Loop

The MV 3/4 Time left its Moss Point Main Street mooring on Wednesday, April 24, for a nearly two-year journey. Captained by Lennie Sheffield, he and his crew have mapped a course to cruise "The Great Loop" that takes them around the tip of Florida and then head northward along the east coast before turning into the Hudson River.

The cruise will continue into the Great Lakes to the Mississippi River, the Tennessee-Tombigbee River and emerge in Mobile Bay.

Thus far the team has enjoyed beautiful sunrises and sunsets, welcomed family and friends at ports along the way, and had a personal show from the practicing Blue Angels over Pensacola.
