CONNECTING COMMUNITIES

The Travel Washington Intercity Bus Program is exploring how to improve connections across the state to make service more accessible, reliable, and convenient. Now the program is counting on the public’s feedback to help build both its near- and long-term future. We ask for your support by sharing the Connecting Communities link on your social media. The study will explore where potential expansion of intercity bus service will be most cost-effective while addressing the goal of linking rural areas to the existing intercity network, transportation hubs and urban centers.

If you have any questions or want to learn more about a project, please contact Intercitybus@wsdot.wa.gov

ANNUAL INDEPENDENCE

FROM HUNGER AT GROCERYOUTLET BARGIN MARKET

Grocery Outlet Bargain Market, the extreme-value grocery retailer, today launched its 14th Annual Independence from Hunger® Food Drive, to combat food insecurity and support families in vulnerable and disadvantaged communities throughout America. From June 26 to July 31, 2024, Moses Lake Grocery Outlet is teaming up with Care Moses Lake, a local non-profit, to collect food and cash donations in-store.

Data from the United States Department of Agriculture and Feeding America shows that inflation is causing a double squeeze in communities across the nation. As prices rise, the number of Americans who get groceries at a food bank has increased to 41 million or 1 in 6 households, but the amount of people donating to food banks has gone down.

Each independently owned and operated Grocery Outlet store is committed to giving back to their community and have partnered locally to bring the community together in providing families nutritious food. The company estimates its business model can save shoppers as much as 40% over conventional grocery stores, on average, according to its

website.

Customers can make a difference by visiting the Moses Lake Grocery Outlet and participating in one of these easy steps:

  • Give $5, get $5. Donate $5 or more in a single transaction in-store or online and you will receive a coupon for $5 off a future purchase of $25 or more.
  • Pick up a pre-made bag that is filled with an assortment of groceries selected by Care Moses Lake
  • Make a monetary donation in-store at the register. Donations will benefit Care Moses Lake and support local non-profits such as: the Boys & Girls Clubs, New Hope/Kids Hope, the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation, the Open Doors Sleep Center, Big Bend Community College’s Viking Food Pantry, Youth Dynamics and more!
